He’s not even on the same planet of people I hate. Stealing from rubes is less harmful to society than taking away basic human rights that the collective of the world’s conservative party sponsored by corporations. They just don’t like it when you steal from them.

I even got some money with FTX and now I’m going through the claims process to maybe get something back with the bankrupcy filings.

Anyway, I always considered that money unsafe and “play money” because of the unregulated, uninsured nature of Crypto exchanges.

So I definitely don’t hate the guy more than people who harm other humans or the environment, the basis for human life (I never traded in PoW crypto). How about Perdue Pharma and the Sackler family? They are some real scum. I just wish I had lost my money doing some stupid mistake trading, not because of an untrustworthy exchange.

For someone who got caught covering one mistake by making another massive and illegal one, he doesn’t seem particularly mean or spiteful— however, considering the wave of financial destruction he wrought, his self-rationalizations seem especially lame. He had 8 months to write what turns out to be a very long load of bullshit, adolescent finger-pointing. It all sounds incredibly pathetic, but, in this incredibly cynical world, it’s kinda refreshing to see a guy like this go down without finding out that he’s also a rapist or Nazi or something. He was just arrogant and refuses to accept blame.

    Enjoy prison, ya bozo.

If Sam Bankman-Fried is on your list of most hated people then you’re just a recreational outrage enjoyer.

People like him, Bezos, Musk etc. don’t make it onto the list of worst 100 people alive. Not even close. Focusing on people like them is a luxury for well-off western people with issues nowhere compareable to those living under dictatorships for example.

After Mr. Bankman-Fried was arrested, charged with fraud over FTX’s collapse and placed in home detention in December, he wrote hundreds of pages of sometimes rambling self-justifications, ranging from childhood memories to mathematical calculations.

In a draft of his unsent posts, which he formatted as a series of tweets spanning roughly 70 typed pages, he criticized some of his closest colleagues, interspersing his arguments with photos from his high school years and stock images of popcorn and a garden maze.

The roughly 250 pages of documents, which have not been previously reported, provide a window into Mr. Bankman-Fried’s mind-set during the eight months he spent in home detention before a judge revoked his bail in August.

He described her as ill equipped for the job he gave her as head of Alameda, claiming she had cried during a meeting with him and refused to institute trading strategies that would have protected his businesses from a market crash.

In another section, Mr. Bankman-Fried posted a link to a document he wrote in 2019, “Tonight We Are Young,” an account of a conference in Taiwan where he interacted with Changpeng Zhao, known as CZ, the founder of the Binance crypto exchange.

Mr. Bankman-Fried was only half-engaged, he wrote, but had heard enough to realize that the conversation centered on an account labeled fiat@ — the vehicle that regulators have said FTX executives used to redirect customer funds into other projects.
