Bases in the US also have this issue. It is systemic. Stateside, prosecutions of soldiers who rape women don’t see the light of day. The Florida panhandle is awash with stories of GIs raping women and facing zero consequences. I’ve friends that this has happened to. The whole damn system is guilty as hell.

trump is known to have raped many women and republicans still want him to be president. The fact of the matter is that certain people just don’t care about women and them being raped. We call those people republicans.

Fuck the Republicans, but the Democrats have had just as much time and power to deal with this systemic issue and have done nothing either. The military acts with bipartisan impunity.

And conservative voters see any measure to tackle this issue, no matter how benign, as “weak liberal nonsense” and “a waste of time” that cheapens our fighting ability. Of course I’m sure their hearts are set on what’s best for our military, and not that they’re sexist, racist abusers who don’t want their sexist, racist abuse to be challenged.

This issue goes back at least as far as living memory for the US. We were particularly vicious to German women at the end of WWII. GI’s having illegitimate children with local women in Asia during our multiple wars there was so common it’s basically a trope.

To be fair, it isn’t important enough to either party to substantively deal with, because they would have.

Hell the only brothel I have ever seen had a yearly police support sticker all in a line by the door.

        Those girls really loved pizza

The fact that the US protects their officials and soldiers from the weight of other countries’ law is disgraceful. Unfortunately, it will not change until its allies begin threatening them with kicking their bases out.

This so much. The US in general has a problem of having people who are ostensibly above the law.

The police have qualified immunity. SCOTUS has no real check on their conduct. And now the president is immune from prosecution.

Internationally the US has no regard for International law. They have refused to be bound by several crucial international treaties.

I completely agree that sex crimes cannot be tolerated. So, when can we expect those apologies for forcing women and girls into sexual slavery as ‘comfort women’ ? 🤔

Nah, the Japanese government since WW2 has primarily been run by war criminals or the children of war criminals. Modern Japan is basically what Germany would have been if people like Goring got to skip the Nuremberg trials and instead became the president.

I love that Sweden signed the DCA the other day so the US military can come here and do it here too.

Inherent issue with military that they are refusing to fix because it would prolly cause them operational discomfort.

IE it is a bad idea to put young men into these conditions but hey we got got an empire to run to put young men in isolated conditions and foreig land then pikachu face when they lash out.

Yeah criminals should be convicted but you won’t solve the issue with it. You are just punishing the crime and there is still a victim.

Based on down vote ratio looks like this is the outcome half of society is supporting lol

I guess it explains why nothing is being done tofix it.
