95% is being generous too. I’d be surprised if even 1% of users know what GrapheneOS is. Tech-savvy people vastly overestimate the general public. Like how using an ad blocker is common sense to all of us, yet some 2/3rds of the world likely don’t.

If somebody is buying a phone just because it’s made by apple, they were never going to buy an android in the first place. Google would be entirely unaffected by this.

Why is proton consistently red in the pricing category despite being cheaper than (or on par with) other options like mozilla which is consistently yellow? Am I misreading this as green = good, red = bad?

It kinda is a necessary evil, if you want free content at least. Especially for a website like youtube where you need to host millions of large videos 24/7. That shit ain’t cheap, and even google can’t make money out of thin air. Not that I’m defending youtube or anything, charging $8 a month for premium lite but still giving you ads is insane. Paid services should never have ads.

My problem isn’t with ads, but rather the type of ads used. Like I said a moment ago, I don’t think paid services should ever have ads of any kind. But for free websites, a few side banner ads are fine in my book, while ads in the middle of a page or popup ads or video ads (especially unskippable ones) are a no-go. Essentially anything that doesn’t interrupt what I’m doing is usually something I’m okay with.

Tentacles, yeah that’s probably a more niche kink. But cat boys/girls? I don’t know a single person who wouldn’t consider that an upgrade.

Several of them are from the OP alone. Look at their post history, and at least the last three posts have dedicated a sentence or two on calling GrapheneOS bad.

Three out of four of the paragraphs in the article’s solution were spent convincing people of the benefits to buying premium. Still feels like an ad despite the tiny mention of uBlock Origin at the very bottom.

I do agree that Youtube, premium isn’t bad value. But I refuse to support google or youtube directly with my money. If I ever want to support a creator, I can throw them a couple dollars on patreon and help them far more than buying premium ever would have.
