I’ve been using Thunder, which I find after tweaking the settings can be fairly close to Eternity (though not exactly the same, of course). It’s been working pretty well for me. Like Eternity, FOSS with no ads/tracking, which is important to me.

Piefed is a different piece of software from Lemmy, and an app supporting one will not necessarily support the other. They have different APIs.
Eternity is a Lemmy-specific app, and one that has been unmaintained for around a year, so I wouldn’t expect Piefed support anytime soon. I recently begrudgingly switched to a different app despite eternity being my favorite user experience, because it doesn’t support image proxying (which lemmy.zip uses) and will probably not be updated again.

StellarExtract@lemmy.zipto Technology@lemmy.world•Yes, you can store data on a bird — enthusiast converts PNG to bird-shaped waveform, teaches young starling to recall file at up to 2MB/sEnglish3·2 months agoGozz is correct. You’re misunderstanding the nature of a digital signal. What the author did was convert a digital signal to an analog signal, store that analog signal on a bird, then record that analog signal. Whether it was redigitized after the fact is irrelevant. It is not a digital process end-to-end. This is the same as if I were to download a YouTube video, record that video on a VHS tape, then redigitize that video. Not only would the end result not be a bit for bit match, it wouldn’t be a match at all despite containing some of the same visual information, because it would be the product of a digital-analog-digital conversion.
