That assumes you can trust the unauditable. I can only accept open hardware, with verification of random samples.
And of course similar underwater drones could carry nuclear warheads to targets, slowly but surely, without means of detection.
Why should one give YouTube a second chance, though?
I only buy hardware I can install open source firmware on. If there is no such thing then there will be zero sales from me.
Cyanogenmod on Nook, then LineageOS on phone and tablet, now GrapheneOS on phone and tablet. Reason is control and freedom. Security for GOS.
I switched to Linux (back in i386/i486 days) because I was using FLOSS and finally could have a free/libre operating system underneath.
I like to be in control of what happens on the hardware I own and what services I use. If given no choice I will cease using them altogether. I agree that the law is an absolute shitshow, but with the recent speedrun to totalitarianism we should not fool ourselved that it won’t be passed. It will be, eventually. It doesn’t hurt to start digging the trenches meanwhile. For it is a war.
You can move to WiFi tablets then. The hostile network boundary would then begin on your MiFi router.
Unless you outlaw alternative ROMs some devices will be not backdoored.
Central server only gives you metadata. There are alternative clients if you don’t trust the official one.
BNP Paribas is french.
Consors bank so far is an alternative. NFC cards, hardware TAN generators, app not forcing use of proprietary OSses. LineageOS is fine, need to check GOS.
It is never safe to trust any network. And running a tight ship is a lot of work.
VPN first is fine if you don’t want your ISP and your nation state to know you use Tor.
Which asks for captcha.
This comment seems about potential EU legislation designed to lock bootloaders so that the phone radios are guaranteed to run a particular proprietary baseband blob.
No, device makers are in charge of unlocking their bootloaders, not Google. Google itself as a device maker allows unlocking of their bootloader, on current Pixels.
May I rather suggest https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dendrocnide_moroides ?
It doesn’t. There are several alternative installation sources available. On this Pixel tablet there is no Google Play originating software at all.
