Fuck Cars@lemmy.world•Classic cars will still need a smog test in California after lawmakers reject Jay Leno billEnglish
202·2 months agoWish they’d do a better job policing modern cars blowing smoke constantly from abuse that somehow pass smog checks. Stop relying solely on computer monitoring and let techs do a real inspection again.
Leno is a narcissistic asshole trying to push a law that only benefits rich collectors like himself, in that respect I’m glad it failed.

Not The Onion@lemmy.world•Trump Opens DOJ Investigation Because Crime Rates In Washington D.C. Aren’t High EnoughEnglish
13·3 months agoCops will even lie about how good and bad they are, depending on who’s asking. Let’s keep this investigation going, maybe we’ll find out who was part of that big child trafficking and rape super-group Trump was always hanging around with. Because he’s a pedophile who rapes adults and children.
B is mounted upside down. Also the prongs get bent easily. So definitely not B.

Neat idea 10 years ago “discovered” recently by a tech bro who thinks he’s the first one to think of it. He got his clicks, I guess.
10gig symmetrical for $50/month on Sonic fiber. Still too expensive but I can’t believe the rest of the US pays so much for so little, and worse thinks it’s a great deal. Typical US speeds are 30 years behind but Americans are so very, very stupid.
Humans are too stupid to switch from convenience to slightly less convenience even if they get privacy for free. Any amount of discomfort is too much and changing an app is basically death.

15·6 months agoEverything being better is incredible. Shame the idea took so long to cross the Atlantic BUT maybe it’ll work its way across the states for big cities.
Police aren’t here for for the common citizen, they’re for sale to the highest bidder like everything else in this shit hole of United States of Capitalism. Fuck the police. ACAB.

Technology@lemmy.world•The Fitbit Sense line is cooked because it was too good for GoogleEnglish
13·6 months agoUna Watch from a small team in Ireland has a promising vision for those who want to rid themselves of Google. I had a Fitbit step tracker that didn’t fit into Google’s plans so they made it unusable after Fitbit cashed out.
I’m glad Fitbit got paid but that doesn’t mean we’re stuck with Google.

11·7 months agoAnd we’re back to what TV used to be, millions of ad-supported channels no one cares about except people who just want background noise. Time really is a flat circle.
