All the linux stacks I was involved with over the years always had SELinux disabled as part of the base config. I can’t think of a single server it was enabled on.

91·9 months agoAgreed. Better to make it a month or two. This gives you time to find replacement companies and then hopefully never return to Amazon.

18·9 months agoI got banned a few weeks back for an anti-trump post.
That account was 11 years old and I was very active over those years. But nope. Don’t talk smack about the orange god.
It solidified Lemmy as my permanent reddit replacement. No ragrets.
100% agree
Half the bands mentioned in this post are from the 90s - or had their haydays in the 90s.
Pop Will Eat Itself in the early 90’s.
Amazing fun shows with tons of energy from the band and the audience.

2·9 months agoYears back I had a computer store in a small town. Worked on the local city and police computers and network. One day a high school boy was caught sharing pictures of a couple of the high school cheerleaders with their shirts pulled up. These girls were 15-16 year old. If I understand the story the girls were daring each other to lift shirts, pictures were taken by the girls, somehow they got shared out of the group months later, the boy got a copy, he forwarded it to more friends, someone told a parent, parent called school, etc.
There was an investigation. I think the boy got kicked out of school. No CP charges were filed.
BUT…
The responding cop questioned the boy, got the pictures, and almost immediately sent an email to all the bros in the police station containing the pictures. The comments around the station about the girls (who were CHILDREN) from these 45-50 year old men was exactly what you would expect.

1·10 months agoA MacBook lasting longer is irrelevant when a PC can be upgraded for half the cost over the same period.
I’m using the same PC I had in 1998. Sort of.
I’ve been upgrading things as needed. Around 2000 I put it in a 4 unit rack mount server case - which will pretty much hold anything I need. The motherboard and CPU have been upgraded 5-6 times. New power supply here and there. Old drives are moved to storage drives and I install faster newer drives for OS from time to time.
I have no idea how much I’ve saved just upgrading things as needed or if something fails.
I think I agree with most comments here.
He’s usually right and I agree with him, I just find him a little hard to watch. His videos are a bit long winded.
I 100% support him. I think his heart and mind are in the right place.

I’ve been using Thunderbird for email for years. I use it with some SMTP servers on shared hosting platforms, a yahoo account and a few gmail accounts - one with calendars. I don’t have any problems with it. Runs stable, doesn’t crash or do weird things. My only complaint would be search is a little clunky, but it works.
I had to use Outlook client for year at another job and that client was hot garbage.
