This is what happens when the people exposed to the highest levels of lead are give access to all the hate they can eat and free-reign to use that lowered cognitive function in positions of power.

This pissed me off until I remembered that all these positions were replaced by partisan shit-suckers and opted to ignore it instead. The fact that republican mouthpieces can lie to the faces of their supporters and still get believed means they’re hopeless to learn anything else. They live in a reality that is going to crash and burn in a few months, and they can blame none of it on any opposition but their own rejection of reality.

It’s the incel/red-/black-pill bullshit. I am an older millennial, turned 41 yesterday, in fact, and I have noticed the split in the gen-Z generation. At some point a lot stopped trying to grow as a person and started blaming women and minorities for why they were single and unfavorable to their preferred mates/society. Accountability and integrity just sort of stopped mattering to them when it became easier and more socially acceptable to be a shitty person and still gain fans/clout/etc.

Then comes along all these ‘bros’ who sell them this idea that their problem is just not being a big enough dick and being rich, loud, and large, Eden if you have to fake it until you make it. They promote the debunked study of alpha males and champion the grind, self-made mentality while pinning the blame for their future failures on outside factors like immigration and higher ed.

I had high hopes that we could unfuck the world together, with the leadership of gen-Z, but I didn’t think republican enough about how far the backslide would be. Now, I just expect to see the world crumble as the younger gen are lambs to the slaughter for the wars, sports, and land grabs of the ultra-rich.

Ditto, friend. Which DE did you end up going with? I started with KDE but had bad luck with app crashes last night and odd desktop displays so I reinstalled fresh with GNOME (didn’t need to worry about reinstalling vs switching DEs cause there wasn’t much done with the OS by that point).

I had already done that before pulling the trigger. I used Obsidian to get a listing of distros and then took notes as I tested them on my Lenovo Yoga 720 laptop. Obviously, not the same as my daily gaming rig, but it gave me a good enough approximation for how well I’d like some of the distros I tried. In the end it was Mint Cinnamon (currently installed on my Yoga) or openSUSE. I eventually had to reinstall openSUSE last night when KDE started giving me trouble. It’s probably the last time I try KDE for a while. I just don’t seem to have good luck with it all three times I’ve tried it across different distros.

Either way GNOME is working great this morning and I’m working on getting stuff customized!!
