I cleaned up when I moved, so the oldest gadget I have right now is a 15 year old MSI laptop, still happily running with linux.

Toothache. Most general pain I can just tolerate until it goes away. But I become completely useless with a toothache. I’m not productive and I’m irritable. I grab a painkiller as soon as I can.
This one just recently as I’m getting older: lower back pain. Getting up after sitting down for a while in an awkward position and the pain is so bad that I literally collapse into a squatting position with my hands on the ground until I can slowly get up again.

I was fresh out of college so was very susceptible to anyone calling for an interview invite. Got a call from a company I didn’t recognize and I was too innocent to not question how they even got my number. I dressed up and everything, brought my resume, etc. When I arrived, there was a bunch of us and then there was a presentation.
Yep, you guessed it, it was an MLM. It was the mid 2000s, so it wasn’t really well known as an MLM or pyramid scheme at the time. Hell, I couldn’t even understand why I was sitting through a presentation and not doing an interview. I realized it wasn’t a job when they started asking for money to commit. Barely 20 me still didn’t realize it’s a scam, but fortunately I literally had no money so couldn’t offer anything either way lol. After a lot of prodding, they finally let me go if I wrote down the names and number of 5 people I know. Then I realized that’s how they got my number. Someone in my circle went through the same thing and gave my contact info away.
I noticed I’ve been using “for sure” on in-person conversations often. Not on chats and comments for some reason though.

Woah slow down there. I can understand not liking Rogue One, but no way the trash that is Rebel Moon is better.

scytale@lemmy.zipto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Anyone else that likes to put their phone in airplane mode to decompress/sleep?English4·4 months agoI use the Focus feature on IOS. I selectively silence the stuff that aren’t important (email, messaging apps, social media, etc.) and keep calls and emergency alerts active. 90% of calls I get are spam or sales calls and they don’t happen at night when I sleep. If I get a call in the middle of the night, there’s a high chance it’s important or it’s an emergency, so I don’t silence it.
Not much really. Separate profile on your machine or run it in a VM. Then maybe use a vpn. But that doesn’t really hide anything from zoom itself. Maybe use a throwaway email.
