The
wasteprofit is unreal.

I watched a very, very good video about this tonight actually. You may think its shit, since it requires kind of a belief in more than what ordinary people see in the system.

Just posting in case you appreciate it. Who knows.

Happens to me too. Specially in movies, a lot of things seem evil now.

Just guessing here but maybe implement support for some kind of dystopian cookie that all visitors need to have in their browser…

Ok, I removed my initial comment about liking it. It was before I understood the real reasons for it.
Its easy to fall victim to this actually. A change in society seems good on the surface, until you get why they are doing it.

Because evil runs these people. Its actually that simple. When these guys speak, its easy to hear they are evil, because of how they speak.
And they know other people are good, so they wont immediately agree with a dystopian society. So you take small steps, where each one looks good on the surface to the billions of people who only hear about this for 5 seconds on the news.

They dont know how to make good movies or games anymore, so not hoping for much. It actually requires emotional maturity and love for the craft.

Yes of course. I meant that they are part of the social media thing, and they may also be required to implement age verification if things become bad.

America is already deciding almost everything about the internet, through owning the operating systems, the networks, big tech companies, Ai, and so on.
They could make a law that forces all major american websites to require a global auth cookie, that people can only get by doing age verification at some site.

Yeah im doing open source, that still feels good. :)

Yeah. If I needed collaboration, I would just whitelist their ips or require everyone involved to use Wireguard vpn, Tailscale or other solutions that allows access without being publically exposed.

Im upvoting you, you put so much effort into this response and made me think twice about it. Perhaps you are right. I would love if you are. And yeah, its australia, not the US, of course.

Lol we have a winner here :)

Yeah thanks for that. I dont put that much work into any comment. Impressive!
My opinion is that the US government is in bed with the tech industry and their wet dream together is to watch and control the entire population, on the internet as well as in real life.
Thats why I dont think this is about protecting children. Its just how they get to their end goal of authentication on the internet for everyone. Step one is stuff like this, require id to verify your age.
Step two is to implement it for everyone because “we already have age verification for kids, lets make it more automatic for everyone by letting people authenticate when they use the internet”. Thats how it goes. :)

Always wanted to see a modern country becoming dystopian though. Could be a big hit on tripadvisor. Once a beacon for freedom in the western world, the US decided it really liked how North Korea is treating its people and decided to do the same using its love affair with big tech psychos like Sam Altman and Elon Musk.

I disagree, but thanks for your opinion anyway. :)
You just still have belief in the US government being good and want to protect kids. Thats nice.

Yeah I understood what its really about when I read hacker news comments.

Well I changed my opinion. :)

Probably bigger than that - they want to make all of us feel watched. But yeah, its worse if you are in a group the US government is currently oppressing. The way things are going, I guess we all will be in some kind of a group like that sooner or later. Like “social media terrorist” for having negative opinions about the US online.
Not going to cinema means saving lots of emotional pain created by the actual cinema experience:
Ads
More Ads
Trailers
20 minutes of that shit (despite paying for the movie!), movie finally starts. Now this happens:
People talking during movies
People watching phone during movie
People eating candy (loudly) during movie
On top of this, what are the odds the movie will be good? I think ive been disappointed by almost every movie this year, so thank god i didnt watch them in a cinema.
