It’s been raining more than average here… So yeah. Same difference?

It’s not necessarily even consumer demand. Truck size and the EPA standards are linked for some reason. Essentially bigger trucks are allowed to have worse mileage.
This story talks about it. There are probably but better sources, but the point remains.
I would actually argue that many truck drivers don’t want a bigger vehicle. Mid size trucks came back on the market after a long hiatus. There are even a number of compact trucks available now, like the Maverick, Santa Cruz, etc.
A speeding ticket for like .0000000000001% of your daily income.
There’s easier, more effective battles to fight. People aren’t giving up their SUV’s, and they are a symptom of a bigger problem anyway. Good public transportation could eliminate millions of cars, roads, and road maintenance.
A few other ideas:
“Are you don’t yet? Why aren’t you done yet? Help me update infinite plans that will be outdated in a week. Also, I just promised a bunch of stuff… all that stuff we already promised, I think you can do that faster.”
When I was a dev, I once had a PM with no technical skills that decided he would “learn to program to help catch us up”… He did not succeed.
I have a malamute, so similar antics. It’s cute- except at 6am for breakfast… and two hours before dinner time…and when it’s time for a walk even when it’s -10 outside.
Not for everyone. But I wouldn’t trade it.
Used to work pretty well. Now it’s a mess. I don’t understand why they would make it so much worse.
I didn’t even know they added new maps. I’ll have to revisit this…
Well that’s terrifying… I might watch the show if it ever comes out
Not sure what changes, but it’s scary how much Google controls. Even if we just broke off YouTube from them, that would be a big deal.
Ideally we would split their search engine, YouTube, and chrome each into two competing companies. (Google A, Google B, Chrome A, Chrome B, YouTube A, YouTube B)
Because Google has so much power they can make changes that will break search results, websites, and browsers if you don’t accept changes that are beneficial to them.
Adjacent topic… Do you use a credit union? Because fuuuuuuck banks.
Looks good. Hope all went well
Make your significant other a card and a plan for another day. It’s a commercialized garbage holiday. That isn’t to say you shouldn’t have a day to do something nice. But why do it when flowers cost 4x and restaurants are packed? Make it a point to do something next week.
At least that’s what we do…
Otherwise cook, make something, go somewhere new in the city (a park, an arm museum, etc.)
And Google is bringing AI to private text messages. It will read all of your previous messages. On iOS? Better hope nothing important was said to anyone with an Android phone (not that I trust Apple either).
The implications are terrifying. Nudes, private conversations, passwords, identifying information like your home address, etc. There’s a lot of scary scenarios. I also predict that Bard becomes closet racist real fast.
We need strict data privacy laws with teeth. Otherwise corporations will just keep rolling out poorly tested, unsecured, software without a second thought.
AI can do some cool stuff, but the leaks, misinformation, fraud, etc., scare the shit out of me. With a Congress aged ~60 years old on average, I’m not counting on them to regulate or even understand any of this.
By law, anything should be a one click to cancel service, instead of the maze they send you through.
Xbox live, gyms, etc.
Sounds cool. Isn’t that neat. It’s a little island on the Canadian border that you need to take a ferry to get to. It just kind of looks like the rest of the Northern Minnesota shoreline.
I love the state parks in the area though. Much easier and cheaper to get to.
Every year my father-in-law collects torn wrapping paper and plastic boxes in a giant garbage bag and fills it. 95% of the presents will end up in the garbage or be forgotten in a few months.
The amount of time, money, and resources wasted are so depressing. My kids don’t need more shit. I don’t need more shit. Could we just hang out?
Trustworthiness in the platform is dead. Musk uses it like his personal sandbox. Advertisers are quickly pulling out. I don’t know how they’re possibly financially staying afloat.
Twitter was so engrained in communication that it’s difficult for many users to leave (sports, etc.). So, I agree, it’s not dead yet, but Musk seems to be doing everything he can to poison the well.
I can’t imagine how removing the communications department from a company that specializes in communication seemed like a good idea…
My Linux knowledge isn’t what it used to be, but I believe you can easily make a thumb drive with a bootable distro. I would recommend taking whatever you choose for a test drive before you wipe a working system. That way you can see if there’s any weird stuff that doesn’t want to work.
I was trying to find active users since he took over. But the only numbers I can find are numbers provided by Musk, who is a well known liar.
I know Lemmy and Mastodon are niche communities, and that people put up with a lot of garbage from Big Tech, but I have to believe that a lot of users have left Twitter, or least that usage is down. I also assume bots are way up, because Musk wants his numbers to be up regardless of the source (save for people with an opposing opinion).
Hopefully Musk’s shitty little empire crumbles…soon.
