We fixed the problem with SUV blindspots by putting rear view cameras on cars, I almost wonder if the solution here is more cameras. Front-facing would get much dirtier tho.

“Every company has a test environment. Some companies have production environments.”
Ah goddamn it.
The Slate EV is supposed to come in mid-$20k range. Doesn’t even come with a stereo, you get your own that fits in the space, or just zip tie a Bluetooth speaker somewhere. Refreshingly utilitarian, I think things should be modular.
As a kid I remember Tom Brokaw droning on about the collapsed soviet union and eventually Kuwait but all that bad news was offshore, domestic news was all about how great 3Q was going to be and how the malls and airports would be swamped for Christmas, great movies in theaters, optimism. I had no idea it was the last time I’d experience it.
Are you kidding? I want your heathcare.
You don’t live in a place called Reading Rainbow if you haven’t seen some shit
And the pro tech nerds who told everyone to use local-only, non proprietary smart devices so they can still have a secure, ad-free smarthome laugh as we walk through the house without ever touching light switches.
Nest bricked my security system (after magically installing Assistant on it [oh by the way it has an undocumented microphone]), at least they gave you $100… in gift cards to the fucking google store. Logitech isn’t even that smart.
Blaming consumers for the behavior of corporations is a fallacy of capitalism… consumers act in their best interests, not necessary in everyone’s best interests, so we all suffer if everyone does that.
Not if the IP is purchased by another company leaving the original saddled with the debt, or spun off so the parent company can rebuy it thusly, or the government bails them out, or buys it to be the State AI too, or a bunch of other scenarios in this dark new world ahead.
I drove Amazon Flex during Covid, having an AI as your boss is deeply and perpetually unsettling but ultimately doable! Just do what the push notification tells you to do. If you want to say something to your boss, use the feedback form on the corporate website. So simple.
I live in a city that’s half black, in one of several gayborhoods. I keep wondering when black and pink panthers will form and start patrolling. Probably when we get hit with our first localized stochastic terrorism incident. There’s a rainbow crosswalk that rednecks love to come do burnouts on. Tensions run high with highly conservative MAGA folks dominating the rural areas just miles from our very flammable houses with rainbow flags.
But you know what happens when the panthers start patrolling? Suddenly, gun control.
Our cops wouldn’t arrest them but the feds would probably escalate it. I am not sure how it’d play out today.
I lived in Seattle for a while and got used to the nudity, imagine my sadness moving to Arkansas which bans any public nudity “within view” of the opposite sex (hello gay campgrounds) - but last year I saw a lesbian go topless at Pride and I was SO happy! My straight neighbor made it a point to mention how she didn’t care for that, and I’m like, it’s our event lady, don’t come.
He basically shredded the Hatch act his first term, there were no consequences, of course he’s just gonna flat out ignore it this time.
If you dig through the finer marketing print, it seems like this is a concept you can “lease” for the next 12 months, meaning it’s not a rebrand at all, just a year of alternative packaging. But hey everyone is talking about them, so it worked.
If you argue it with any of these smalltown dinks, they’ll tell you it’s just the liberals molesting kids anyway, so the solution is to get rid of democrats. There is no amount of stats or math or logic that will sway this.
See, you can build coal plants in poor/black areas, so you don’t have to see the pollution, nor your kids have to get cancer like those silly poors. And then you don’t have to put up with woke shit like windmills. Sigh.
I suggested drawing in chalk on the street outside of the governor’s mansion, to protest the GIANT chalk Christ she had commissioned across the driveway to celebrate Easter one year.
It wasn’t even a serious call to action.
Religion was used to justify it, and it was used to make the slaves more docile as well. Double edged sword. But then it turned to a source of strength as they emancipated.
It’s complex. Humans are not going to give up religion, they’re just not. We should work to make the religions better if we want things to get better, and that means supporting the good religious people so they can affect change.
