Eh, the inflation argument never moved me for a variety of reasons. But either way, if that’s true then the first part of my comment applies.
Depends on if the publisher is scummy or not. BG3 and Elden Ring were $60.
Even then tho, this game was $60 back in 2010. Releasing for the same price 14 years later is insane, not even EA would pull that.
A 14 year old game releases at full price. God Nintendo is the worst
I’m an older Gen Z, but same here. I really don’t know that much but can torrent, so people see me as some sort of tech god lol.
My younger sister on the other hand, also Gen z, is so tech illiterate that her downloads folder is a mess and thinks deleting installers will delete the installed program.
Totally agree, tbh I even felt 7 was a bit too high. But people were pissed that it was that low.
Dunkey actually made a great video showing how any game that gets below an 8 gets slammed, regardless of the title. Was kind of funny tbh, albeit a little sad.
They thought 7 was too low. And I totally agree with you, I would’ve given it like a 6 or 5.
There’s an extension for YouTube dislikes if you’re curious. That video got slammed with them.
Granted, people eventually agreed that the game was pretty mediocre. But at the time the only people that had played it were the diehards that paid extra for early access, and they were livid.
Eh, I don’t love IGN but it seems like at this point nothing they do makes people happy. I remember when they gave Starfield a 7 people rioted lol, even tho the score was entirely deserved.
That’s definitely not ps5 footage lol, but yeah it looks solid!
I wouldn’t call it a homophobic trope, there’s a lot of truth to it. Closeted gay men in these hardcore homophobic communities tend to have massive self loathing issues, and take it out on everyone else.
Either Mind Control, like Killgrave’s in Jessica Jones, or if I can cheat a little, Legion’s powers in Legion on FX. He sort of has multiple but they can all basically be chalked up to “mind powers” if we’re being loose with it.
For the record I’m not saying I want to be like Killgrave, he’s a disgusting small monster, but… his abilities are insane. Hard to resist something like that.
As for Legion’s, I mean I’d effectively be a god. Hard to pass that up, tho maybe not if it comes bundled with the schizophrenia.
Oh I agree, I addressed all of that in another comment. Even used movies as an example lol.
Totally agree, I actually brought up the Steam Deck in another comment
I’m confused, do you think you need the sub to play Switch games? Not paying the sub doesn’t mean you have to pirate or emulate.
That’s my point though, movies are also considered a pretty expensive hobby. People aren’t going to theaters and piracy is sky high currently because it’s simply getting too expensive for a single movie ticket. Tickets near me, for example, are $15 minimum, with some being over $20. So for my family to go to the movies it could be $100 minimum for one movie, and god forbid anyone wants snacks.
And just like gaming, you can simply wait for every movie you want to watch to end up in the bargain bin on dvd, but imo that’s a different discussion entirely. When people talk about a hobby being expensive, they’re usually not talking about the lowest possible entry point.
I guess it would be more accurate to say that gaming and movies can be expensive, not that they inherently are. Like, you can grab a Steam Deck and solely stick to grabbing indie games during sales and ultimately not spend that much, at least relative to the alternative.
When a single game costs $70 I’d call it an expensive hobby.
Sure, you can buy an old gen console and only purchase old second hand games, but modern gaming is expensive.
It absolutely can happen on such short time scales. Regardless, it’s also been hundreds of years.
