Jumping on this and will be starting slowly. I have a newish laptop…that has a broken screen. Alternatively I can pick up a new one. I also have a bunch of portable hard drives.
I have terrible internet (cable) with the phone line sitting at a spot in the hall where I could keep a small dedicated cupboard. So I was thinking something connected by Ethernet.
I want to ideally use it for downloading content and streaming it to devices around the house. Likely firestick or an alternative tv box.
Secondly I would use to stream music to my iPhone outside the house.
Any guides or starting points would be welcome.
I may take a look at this. Also looking for a 360 alternative
I think that maybe you should look at as your earned your ability. It’s deserved. Each and every attempt you persevered.
Some people do it first time. Some people take 10. Don’t compare. Just be proud of all the extra things you can do now.
I love sailing.
I moved to Qobuz. It costs a little more but that is something you have to accept for the ethical choice.
Unfortunately it’s not working for me. Many of my songs/libraries have not moved over well, can’t be found or have changed version etc.
The bigger issues for me are the terrible CarPlay functions of the app. It’s non existent. If I am travelling I need to see and search fast and easy. And I continually have to select Bluetooth when playing music, if the app drops out or I lose connection I can’t just pop on my phone and again select Bluetooth. It needs to recognise CarPlay and just switch.
Finally I it drops out and jumps a lot for me. Interruptions every 10 songs or so just isn’t great.
I wish it would have worked but it didn’t. I’m moving away from music streaming.
It’s my new aim. Never thought I would aspire to be a Luddite.
I have been chatting through convenience with my kids.
As an example music streaming. I have spent the last 15+ years paying for it, to generally accumulate a song or two extra per month. Switched from Spotify due to their warmongering. Tried an alternative. More expensive and the app is terrible for the car. Tempted lately to go back to an iPod and some sailing. At this stage it really does look like an option. It’s not the most convenient but balance out privacy, price and usability.
I feel like I am going backwards as I simply don’t know what’s coming and I can’t trust the services I pay for in several capacities.
Well written. I agree the adaptability, abilility to maintain and way alternate pieces string together make picking up send hand pieces viable…it helps under consumption.
I do like ikea but the amount of plastic and tat it produces does leave me shunning it in the last 10 years.
And then after all that have to read a page full of ego and and thinly veiled sales waffle just to find the tiny bit of info you are looking for.
You have to give up too much time and privacy to get little back. It’s not the internet we knew. It’s a hyper monitized sales board.
I miss being excited about what online would unfurl for me each day.
You haven’t brought age and maturity into this discussion and it’s a big piece of info on scaling the answer. 14 no. 17 possibly.
Secondly there is the other minor to consider. As a parent it is my job to ensure the visiting minor is safe and comfortable so even if my child wants the door closed and I trust them it could still be a no.
There are so many variables here. It’s never a simple yes I would or no I wouldn’t. It’s a parents job to read the room in the literal sense here. You are a parent first before you are a friend and sometimes that goes against a child’s wants in the moment.
Ensure to make sure every doc has 17 giant sized images saying FU MS
Could they at least do this over the potholes.
Hmmm if someone took a chunk of my belly I would also be pleased and mesmerised.
Feel pretty good about this.
Access to view the evil models or to make more evil models?
All those tech tools and they still have to hire humans to make them safe. Hope the help don’t turn on the greedy tech bosses /s.
I’d also like to see more hobby based ones. Agree on the diy/gardening/recycling and non waste.
I hate Reddit but they were always good for outsider tech stuff like the specific game (e.g sims) community or stremio etc when you just need an answer or a bit of support fixing or configuring something.
I find it a bit like bird watching.
The small gangs roam around the street. Chest puffed out whilst making loud but guff calls.
There must be an online guide on how to walk with the confidence of a millionaire whilst simultaneously trying to borrow a pound.
I am a visual person. Regardless of platform the uniform delivery style of all videos and shorts is tired. The tropes, the doing it for likes, monetisation, the monotone voice. There is little originality or genuine creativity to it. It could be good but the cycle of garbage combined with the self juicing algorithm makes it really irritating.
