Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's something really good that is about to happen, and not a lot of people know about it?
12·11 months agoWell, I was worried that I had forgotten the art of dating, but it seems that there will be another! I don’t know how it will end up, but for now I’m happy!

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How can I get better at shopping local?
3·1 year agoJust walk past the shops. Most of the time it is easy to see what they sell and you can ask them for a particular item or brand. Buying local usually involves legwork and talking with people. I hope it helped. However I really find it hard to understand why being able to buy legos locally seems that special to you (when I was growing up I only knew of local shops and I still prefer them).

1·1 year agoI used this extension on edge to view one particular site (although I never managed to make it auto load on that page, but meh). As I said firefox seems to work without it for some reason.

Technology@lemmy.world•Google pulls the plug on uBlock Origin, leaving over 30 million Chrome users susceptible to intrusive adsEnglish
19·1 year agoIt literally took me less than ten minutes to set up firefox. I carried all my bookmarks and passwords from edge and set up a mozilla account and everything is synced across linux, windows and android.
The only thing I’m worried of, is if some websites require chrome to work, as was the case with some government sites that only worked with internet explorer in the old days.
(Does anyone know if the default user agent is chrome? I used to log in a local streaming site from edge and it wouldn’t work, as it required chrome, but I used an extension to take care of the user agent. On firefox it works no problem.)
Regardless of your religion’s rules, buying or selling a pet is absurd. I mean a pet is like a friend, or companion. You wouldn’t buy a friend, correct?
Now go find yourself a cat, but before that please make sure that you are ready for the responsibilities and expenses that come with owning a pet. They need food, healthcare and love, like humans.
I understand. From my experience, though, all it takes is a couple of days and your mom will be the cat’s best friend! In any case, I hope that a cat will choose you soon!
That’s the easiest thing. I found mine under a car at the place I work. There was a dog in the house and it was kind of a gamble, but it all turned out well.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•If you could only have one book to read, from now onwards, what book would it be, and why?
2·1 year agoAgreed, but that is three books. If one book was a strict requirement, I would go for silmarillion.

Could it be that your (real) name is possibly of French origin, or at least it sounds French to them? Maybe they wrongly assume that you are of French origin, so they try to be more friendly.

You can get a cheap ssd and install linux on it. Before installing disconect existing windows drive. After install reconnect windows drive and make sure that windows boots. Then boot to bios and choose linux as default drive and after booting to mint desktop update grub to include windows. On each boot you will be able to choose which OS you want.
