Yeah, we should still tax it though.

Yeah, we should still tax it though.

That’s true with many regulations. The quiet part that they’re trying to avoid saying out loud is that behaving ethically and responsibly doesn’t earn them money.

Oh, so just like with the GDPR, cool.

Why is allowing vehicles running on alternative fuels that have 0 emmissions a bad thing?
They need many times the amount of renewable energy to make than just driving on electricity directly, they will not exist in sufficient quantities and be prohibitively expensive. Still, the former German government negotiated for an exception for e-fuels only cars and I’m pretty certain that will come so some more idiots can be tricked into buying one before they check the prices and availability for these fuels.
Why are we all hell bent on pursuing EVs,
We are not. New vehicles will not be allowed to emit CO2 (or be fined), that’s all.
ignoring all their downsides?
Nobody is.

It happens to us too, they just have to give longer notice and let us chancel.

I have two of these, they work fine with my steam deck and my PC which is running Mint, in all 3 modes, wired, BT, 4G.
The face buttons have a bit of wiggle room horizontally, which does feel a bit cheap unfortunately. It’s just that though, they do work flawlessly.

Not to my computer they don’t.

I would buy neither.

I do want a TV that can access Netflix etc without another box. I just don’t want the surveillance that comes with it.

So far foreign companies don’t appear to be eating the cost. So the impact to their competitiveness seems to not be high enough to force them. It’s likely to stay that way.
It’s important to understand that if you place tariffs on all imports of a certain good, you also incentivize domestic manufacturers to increase their prices to just below those of the taxed imports, at least as long as domestic supply is lower than domestic demand (so they can expect to sell all they have anyway).

Better. We bought the airport. Google was paid to pave the runway and maintain it for a couple years after. And now they try to dictate that only planes they approve may start and land.

and even the damn police was pissed to be instrumentalized by 1 Penis like that
The funniest bit was when they repeatedly painted over a mural that cited the insult in the dark of the night.

They have not been declared illegal (yet). The lower court just has to consider additional aspects according to the BGH and may possibly come to a different decision. In any case this only applies to adblock plus for now.

They are using this to leverage their way into control over your system. They are trying to become the iOS of PC’s, where you can’t install or run anything Microsoft didn’t collect protection money on.

Not an American. Also, able to cook and doing so most days. Am I allowed to have an opinion now? Good.
It’s just not for you to decide which tasks other people should perform themselves or outsource for money as long as somebody is willing to sell that service.
Making your own food is a very basic and fundamental skill, which is also much cheaper than any other option, and it has nothing in common with your disingenous examples.
I happen to think building and repairing computers or fixing my own bathroom sink are very basic, fundamental skills which are also cheaper than other options. Do I go around and gatekeep what people shouldn’t ask other people for help about?

We pay other people to do the things we can’t or don’t want to do all the time, this isn’t different.
Did I stutter?
Make your own phone. Make your own toothpaste. Grow your own strawberries.

The argument isn’t about walking, biking or driving, it’s about delivery. A lot of take out is also delivered by bike.

What’s more ridiculous? 10 people each driving to the fast food joint individually or one delivery driver making a round trip to 10 people?
We pay other people to do the things we can’t or don’t want to do all the time, this isn’t different.
Keepass 2 / Keepass XC actually has a function for this case and does pretty well in merging the two conflicting versions of the database.
