But there have been made crazy advancements in APUs since the steam deck came out, so I think it will eventually be a great product paired with SteamOS
EldenLord@lemmy.worldto Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•Advice on a new device I'll be bringing to collegeEnglish5·2 months agoI‘d say go with a laptop + controller for gaming. It just works better for “work” linux. I don‘t have a Steam Deck (waiting for 2.0) but I tested one extensively and I personally wouldn‘t want to work with it vs. simply [flips open laptop] Ta-Da!
Framework is cool, but overpriced for something you probably will never upgrade. + global tensions make part supply uncertain.

The USA Government is currently becoming a worse villain than Sauron and all of Mordor

It‘s likely, but can‘t happen too unprovoked because this would give figures like Newsom too much ammo against Trump. Project 2025 doesn‘t care though
EldenLord@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Sam Altman admits OpenAI ‘totally screwed up’ its GPT-5 launch and says the company will spend trillions of dollars on data centersEnglish5·2 months agoI think it will break sooner, but the real impact will happen after midterms so it can be “fake news” without threatening 🍊 Cheetolini‘s presidency

EldenLord@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Sam Altman admits OpenAI ‘totally screwed up’ its GPT-5 launch and says the company will spend trillions of dollars on data centersEnglish6·2 months agoRight? If you told someone from the past that we outsourced imagination to computers, they‘d think we live in a dystopia! Oh, wait…
This whole pedo affair is only the final nail in the coffin of morality for Shitblox. From a gaming perspective, the outrageously predatory (pun intended) microtransactions and Robux currency do absolutely not belong on a children‘s gaming hub where probably >50% of players don‘t even have a real understanding of money yet. And parents don‘t care, as we see with social media in general. Apple pay, google pay etc. make it purposefully easier to make repeated card payments by children using their parent‘s info. In this economy btw, so Uh-Oh thats baaaad. Just shut the whole circus down and buy your kids single player games on steam sale.

Setting up Linux mint is easier than installing Windows. And it‘s free, reliable, open source and not stuffed full of bloatware and subscriptions. Please give it a try if you ever need a new OS

I mean how boring would linux be if it was just go to [random site] and paste the commands into the terminal? There would be no brain training involved, no way to get better at computers.
