I’ve taken to using ‘actually literally’ to indicate I’m not being literally figurative. It’s a losing battle, though. Anything we come up with to mean being literal will become a dramatic enhancer eventually.
That one’s been around long enough I doubt anyone really knows its origin. It does follow a pattern of using the minute to describe various amounts of time.
For instance, a ‘New York minute’ means extremely quickly and a ‘hot minute’ is a long time, but much less than just ‘it’s been a minute’.
What I meant is there is a separate overall setting to turn it off. I think it is an app specific setting. If you just turn them off in the settings for the show, it will only affect that session.
Also it’s sad to hear they’ve gotten worse. They were bad enough before when they were dub dialog only.
CC is a separate setting from the subtitles. There is a place to turn it off but it’s so unintuitive I can never remember it. All it really is, though is dub dialog. There was no attempt at proper closed captioning.
I don’t think most of them have any specifically anti Saudi Arabian jokes, though. The type of money they’re throwing around would certainly make me consider.

Dev is too expensive. Just don’t make mistakes…
At least we had backup data for all the times we had to rebuild from bare metal.
That is only one and ten blackbirds.
The SciFi channel forums used to have a “caption this” page where they had stills from their channel’s live feed people could post quips about. That was back when they aired MST3K.
I used to spend hours watching people try to be funny.
In a sane world that would be life in prison illegal.
They’re not getting revenue from you either way. That’s really more effort than I would want to go through for what amounts to a display bug.
Not to mention most didn’t see a corresponding drop in revenue from views.
More like the .com bubble but much worse.
