  • Realistically, no. But should as in recommended, yes.

If I read your username I’m going to read/say it in my head, so I’m going to attempt to pronounce it.

If every username was just a long number, I’d probably start to find a pronounceable, and specifically memorable substring to remember. A username of “846768556888434”, I’ll call you “34” from now on.

In the case of OP, “YICHM”, you’ll probably just be called “Y-CHIM” or maybe “Why Jim”. Is that your name? No. But is that what I’ll remember, probably.

But even pronounceable names, like mine, probably get shortened. Just “Mimic” or just “Jar”.

Which is all just to say I’m going to try and pronounce it no matter what you have for a username, so if you want others to pronounce it the same way, it should be pronounceable.

  • So technically, in this specific instance, Trump Mobile isn’t run by Donald Trump. It’s instead a separate company run by Don Jr and Eric Trump. That company is then licensing the “Trump” name from The Trump Organization.

Now The Trump Organization is owned by Donald Trump, although officially run by Don Jr, Eric, etc.

But you’re absolutely right that all of this is bullshit. It’s also why Trump is so pissed at New York AG Letitia James for investigating and uncovering all sorts of shady business practices.

You’re absolutely right that Congress should be doing something about it.

  • Prior to the release of BG3 my favorite PC games of all time were BG1 & BG2. Over the years several RPGs came out and almost all of them tried to reference Baldur’s Gate 1/2 in some way. They were spiritual successors or from the team that brought you, or whatever they could say to remind you of BG1/2.

There were a few good ones, lots of bad ones, and ultimately it just seemed like no one was going to make another game of that quality.

On a chance one day a friend and I found Divinity: Original Sin (Definitive Edition). It was one of the best games I had played in a long time. I was excited when the sequel came out, finally someone was making high quality RPGs that I really enjoyed again.

Then it course BG3 was announced. A sequel to my favorite games. And Larian was making it. The studio who currently makes my favorite modern games. It’s a story destined for failure. No game could live up to that level of hype.

But it absolutely did. I spent weeks playing BG3. Completed the game once, having done nearly every side quest I could. Then once I finished I started over again, playing all the other quests I was forced to skip. With the final patch out now (a few months ago) I think I’m ready to dive back in.

So yeah. It is probably the best game ever created. That question becomes difficult when we have to start comparing different types of games, but for the category it’s in, it’s #1.

  • Lol, I underestimated how many “Moto G” phones there are. I have the “Moto G 5g” at the moment, but had the “Moto G power” historically. But there are like 5 phones a year with “Moto G54” or similar branding.

I found what looks like active wallpapers on my phone, but I didn’t see any ads. For me it was hidden away in the settings and I only recall seeing it when first setting up my phone since my launcher handles the wallpaper now.

I do remember a bunch of apps like TikTok and some random Solitaire game being installed “for my convenience” when the phone was first setup, but I could remove them completely.

I wonder if very specific versions install different crap.

It’s a bummer if so because it’s what I recommend to friends if they ask.

  • In any case I’m guessing it hasn’t had enough users to justify funding from Canonical.

in 2017 after shutting down the Unity development team and laying off nearly 200 employees.

Just in case it wasn’t clear, Canonical has no interest in funding it anymore. The project was then picked up my community maintainers, which based on the article was just one person who was 12, now ~15 years old. I bring up the age just to point out that, yes, school is a more important thing to focus on.

  • I always have to pop up in these threads because I’m out there, and I’m not alone. I’ve been watching The Simpsons, more or less, non-stop since it first started airing.

When I was younger it played twice a day during the week with a new episode every Sunday. So when it comes to the earlier seasons, the ten or so seasons often viewed as the golden era, I’ve seen those dozens of times.

In the 2000s watching TV at a regularly scheduled time wasn’t as much of a priority and the availability of videos on the Internet began to increase, so I usually watched The Simpsons that way. When the film came out in 2007 I was there opening day.

As streaming services became popular in the 2010s I started to watch The Simpsons there instead. Although these streaming services rarely had a backlog, just the current season, but I had them all collected over the years.

In the late 2010s my roommates and I decided to watch every episode of The Simpsons but not in release order. We would just pick a random season and episode and watch a few episodes a week over the course of two years.

Now in the 2020s we sometimes get together to watch, sometimes watch solo. I’m personally much more strict about watching every week, they usually watch in short bursts and I don’t mind rewatching recent episodes.

But… Is it good? Yeah mostly. Not every episode is great.

The episode that aired this past Sunday isn’t anything special, a few funny moments but Albert Brooks who voiced Hank Scorpio and Russ Cargill (from the movie) voiced a new character and that was fun.

The Treehouse of Horror from two Sunday’s ago was much better, so if you want a recent episode then watch that.

No it isn’t ever going to be as great as the golden age of The Simpsons, but it’s still fun to watch and I still laugh, so that’s a win to me.

  • The problem is that reality TV is inevitable. People, generally speaking, like to know what other people are doing. Or like to see other people react to things.

The first “reality TV” program was Candid Camera, which technically got its start as “Candid Microphone”, all in the late 1940s. Of course things evolved from there into our current “reality TV” situation.

The real problem is that the line between “entertainment” and “reality” has gotten blurrier and blurrier. When we watch Godzilla we know that’s just entertainment, we know a giant lizard creature isn’t walking down the street.

It’s also funny that you mention MTV because realistically MTV should have died out years ago. In the same way that video killed the radio star, the Internet killed the video star. Why would I turn on the TV and hope the video I wanted to watch was on, when I could just go on the Internet and see it now. Of course MTV the television station wants to keep making money, so they pivoted hard into reality TV.
