Some random dude who likes turtles and minecraft.
It’s actually when they mention the Lemmy community. Mastodon users seem to get confused which accounts are Lemmy accounts vs which accounts are Mastodon.
The name being the same causes the confusion, but is not the reason for the post coming to Lemmy.
tbh i dont think i’ve ever needed w3schools, mdn has always been plenty for me.
Using Rice/Ricing is perfectly fine. Words change meaning and evolve with different communities. In a Linux minded community such as this, you’ll be hard pressed to find people that will confuse Ricing for anything other than a fancy DE/WM.
Most people will understand Rice by the r/unixporn definition: https://www.reddit.com/r/unixporn/wiki/themeing/dictionary/#wiki_rice
I love xonotic!
Do you know why there’s KDE, XFCE and others? Because there’s also a lot of people who dislike GNOME.
If we are getting pedantic here, the above quote is clearly implying that alternatives exist and are actively developed because people dislike GNOME. Your statement does not take in to account the possibility that people just like the other alternatives, and may still like GNOME as well, or feel indifference towards it.
No one is claiming that GNOME has the superior desktop experience. Rather, GNOME has a more opinionated experience, that suits some people, and not others. For some people, it will be superior. For others, they will prefer KDE, XFCE etc.
Umm well akshually 🤓👆: KDE doesn’t exist because people don’t like GNOME lol. GNOME was made because KDE uses QT, which used to be proprietary.

No. The purpose of Linux is to provide a free and open source operating system, that can be customised by yourself and the community to your liking.
I like KDE’s colour picker. It seems I would like the Windows one as well. It’s a good design. Linux doesn’t exist to be contrary, it exists to be a customisable, open experience.
And…? So what, if a design works, a design works. This is a colour picker.
Did anyone else think this episode was supposed to be a dream? The fact that adverts are spread throughout definitely made me think it was (remember ads are beamed into peoples dreams).
Also there were elements shared between the anthology segments, like Fry being unwell, or Bender doing loop-de-loops that make me think it’s a reflection of some real events? Maybe events we’ll see in the season finale?
Curious if anyone else got these vibes. Could just be reading too much into it.
Does it only happen in VSCode? Also, try disabling the compositor and see if that helps?
Display managers usually let you choose the DE when you log in.
I think usually if you use 1 DE per user, it works out fine.
No, Gems have their own versions.
There have been so far 8 production seasons, and 11 broadcast seasons. The DVD box sets, and many other sources, used the order and numbering from the production seasons, whereas hulu / disney+ have been using the broadcast numbering, hence the confusion.
None of the flavour, all of the addiction!
Afaik, only the native instance reports accurate subscriber counts. I believe other instances report how many people in that instance are subscribed to it.
yeah i suppose, fair enough
My dad got me a Linux laptop as a kid (I was 10 I think?), and I am so grateful that he did.
To be fair, I already had a huge passion for computing, and it meant that I would constantly toy around with Linux, breaking things and learning how to fix them.
I have been a Linux user ever since, and I feel have learnt so much about computing because of it.
(I started on Ubuntu 12.04, with the glorious Unity desktop)
