There are a few similar things with “subscription discounts” on the CCS companies trying to stabilize income in the states.
Granted, charging installations are expensive as hell, and simple prices per kWh with regional electricity rates being all over the place truly isn’t a sustainable model.
Tesla’s infrastructure rollouts were certainly working as a loss leader because they had the cash to get it done, and subsequently ‘won’ in North America because any other charging experience outside of Tesla is awful. Other private startups just don’t have the resources to eat up-front costs, and I guess subscriptions are the easy way out, but just as you saying, they utterly suck for the consumer.
That’s why I think gigantic installs with mall-like facilities with higher-margin food/drinks and other amenities to kill time ala Buccees is where most will end up in the states. There is a similar, and much more elegant, setup in Germany with the “Sortimo Innovationspark” between Stuttgart and Munich I’ve seen in some videos.

Similarly how nearly all gas stations in a given region obtain gas at similar costs from, often, the same distributors, they really only profit from the higher margins on food, etc. in the attached store. If we don’t end up with many more dedicated charging locations like Buccees in the next decade, I’ll be very surprised.

Yes Apple forces everyone through webkit and won’t allow third-party blockers. Brave on iOS was forked from Firefox anyway, and iirc uses the same API to block ads as Firefox Focus. Google is most definitely not involved, particularly because both block YouTube ads (and is my primary reason for using Brave anyway).
I’m not sure what you’re referencing in regard to VPN usage; I have had zero problems with mine.
I appreciate that but my response was more intended to chastise the guy blanket labeling people cultists and idiots for no good reason because they hate a browser someone else uses.
The system-wide AdGuard app handles most things well enough, and Brave does its thing on YouTube ads without issue.
Firefox Focus will also take care of YouTube ads (if anyone else stumbles down this rabbit hole), but it’s too heavy-handed for me because I actually stay logged into my account and use my history.
My Pi-hole install also handles all but YouTube if I’m at home, so there’s that.
I’m open to suggestions for a workable alternative on iOS that blocks ads.

This is an absolutely bald-faced lie. Tesla absolutely does NOT market Autopilot as fully autonomous system. Autopilot is nothing other than lane-centering and adaptive cruise control with emergency braking, and that’s it. There is zero ambiguity about it on the vehicle and in documentation. Plus, it specifically requires the driver to maintain control of the wheel.
