@CoffeeDev I would hope it does in the future but as of the moment it seems like Owncast want’s to be it’s own platform just using bits of the Fediverse as apart of it.
I create things.

@Molecular0079 I’ll keep that in mind, I hope to more use them for Cold Storage Purposes for my old Video Edits. I hope to create a NAS in the future what I will most likely pay out for these more Pricy drives that are made for 24/7 use.
@WeirdGoesPro Thanks, yeah I’m a video editor so I go through a lot of media files and will always need to call back to previous work this is why I need such large Drives as the average joe doesn’t really use more than 1TB as I can easily fill that up with only a few Projects. I have an old PC that I put Ubuntu on a year or so back to try out Linux, Personally have to use Windows due to using the Adobe Suite but if I can have my files stored on there and move/access them from my other PC that would be amazing.
Luckily I will be able to test the theory of this out shortly as I will have access to my home office soon with it almost finished being decorated, can’t wait to see what I can do and will probably put some updates on this Community.
@Reborn2966 I’m not using Rsync, I’m just using Sync a program/site under sync.com it was alright but the price does not justify what I was using it for and I’d much rather just pay for USB Hard Drives and maybe even build a NAS in the future.
@WeirdGoesPro Yeah it’s one of the reasons I hope to self-host, I’d rather know what my data is being used for but also it will be cheaper in the long run. I will have to look into the drive things you where saying about as I don’t know how to self-host on a NAS and really would love to move to a NAS in the future.
@PM_ME_UR_PCAPS Thanks I’ll keep that in mind.
@_spiffy Thanks will have a look at it.
@peter From what I can see yes but I’m more thinking of an Interface / Instance to be able to able to access that sort of media. As RTSP seems to just be a Protocol.
@owncast Thanks, I’ll have to check it out as did find little bits of talk about Owncast, seems to be a step in the direction I was thinking of.
@PM_ME_UR_PCAPS I didn’t realize it did but I know most PeerTube Instances have a very low storage limit, So don’t think that would be a great option unless I work out how to run my own instance.
@Khouzzeth_Froststone Then if the Fediverse is the best option for people to move to (What it does look like it), They will slowly crash and full if their user experience keeps slowly becoming worse.
@beefbaby182 Yeah it’s like a mix of both Lemmy and Mastodon, Has a few features missing here and there but they seem to be added quite quickly.
@beefbaby182 that is a fair point just hope Reddit falls slowly to force users to move across to platforms like Lemmy and Kbin
@Wooly That’s good to know, I think the server itself would cost a bit to set up but in the end, text-based media at minimum doesn’t take up much space. Power is probably gonna be one of your biggest costs or if you need to buy and install more storage into the server.
@curiosityLynx I agree, I feel as if the Fediverse might end up with some bigger servers that are gonna run even know the original creators have passed on due to money and stuff. Smaller servers like personal ones sure most of them might go offline unless families and friends pay for it.
Even with this, it’s good to be able to control your data as well as your next of kin can decide on what they wish to do, as they might just want to preserve your accounts and make them not federalized or keep it federalized and use it for there own posts as well. It’s something that would be interesting to see.
@chakan2 I know most of us are now Ex-Users
@sab It’s also about Quality, currently a lot of PeerTube Instances make you have a limit on how much space you have, if you self-host you can raise that limit to the amount of space you have. Most people who don’t create quality content might not last and possibly would just shut down their servers removing their content from the Fediverse.
But those who get donations and any other form of revenue would be able to keep going and even expand their storage if they need to allow their content to be a bigger part of the Fediverse.
Let’s take PewDiePie for instance, if he moved all his videos over to the Fediverse it would be only PewDiePie’s videos across the whole Fediverse but because of his money behind him, he can host them. Merch, Donations, and any other sponsorship could keep him running the server for another month, especially if someone already has or builds up a community of people that are willing to spend money on them.
@CookieJarObserver They as well as Twitter seem to be trying to kill themselves anyway. The more people jump off these platforms and move the Fediverse, the more likely these big tech social medias will most likely try and hold onto the Fediverse to try and survive.
@DannyMac Fair enough, didn’t know they had the older UI of Reddit for Lemmy.
@Reborn2966 I think so from the 3 seconds I looked at it, I just don’t really want to use a Syncing method for anything as it complicates things as well as commonly does charge and I don’t really have spare cash for it…
