Well I think it does, because they don’t know literally everything about us yet. But they will one day if we don’t fight back.
As Doctorow points out, ‘Saying security and privacy don’t matter because you have nothing to hide is like saying freedom of speech doesn’t mater because you have nothing to say.’
It’s a very short-sighted view. Those rights will be taken from you if you don’t protect them.
Oil has a bad reputation but how lucky we are to have it. How does a civilization on a planet without hydrocarbons make the leap to a technological species?
It’s not impossible, but it’s got to be a lot harder.
When they do boil off they need to make sure to have a hell of a lot of cocktail sauce and melted butter on hand.
It could simply be that the rise of life is wildly more rare than we think.
I read that stuff a few weeks ago. And the responses and discussion on Kagi’s Discord. I’ll continue to monitor Kagi’s behavior, of course, but for now I prefer Kagi. I get far more relevant results with no advertising noise and as much or as little “AI” assistance as I want.
Google is a cesspool and DDG is simply inferior - worthy, but inferior.
There’s a reason Primus’ Les Claypool mentions the 7 Layer Burrito in “Wynonna’s Big Brown Beaver”.
The shit was good.
McDonald’s Beef tallow fries. One of the great losses of my early life.
Try Kagi. Paid search engines are the future in order to extract yourself from the enshittification of “free” search engines.

ChatGPT and github copilot are great tools, but they’re like a chainsaw: if you apply them incorrectly or become too casual and careless with them, they will kickback at you and fuck your day up.
Steam has to be worth a lot more than 12 billion.
Kagi is good. I’m using the unlimited search tier. It’s so nice not to have all the cruft in my searches.
She defended this by saying that it was thejr money that had been taken from her by force and, therefore, she was entitled to getting it back.
Your comment precisely expresses my attitude. When it came up i used to say that I was fiscally conservative and social liberal. A Libertarian.
But the older I get the more I realize that Libertarianism isn’t the fiction of Atlas Shrugged. There are many people of great worth that cannot be Dagny Taggart or Howard Roark.
Rand failed to take into account that the allure of increasing wealth subverts many bright creators into becoming resource vampires that in turn become oppressors. Ayn Rand would have loved Mark Zuckerberg’s rise through intelligence and hard work, but what would she think of what he’s ultimately built and what it’s done to society?
Real people aren’t as altruistic has her characters.
I’m using kagi as well and have been very pleased with it.
Thor at Pirate Software played it and really liked it, probably part of that.
I have a bidet with the functions he mentions other than auto flush as it installs on a standard American toilet. You scoff, but profiles probably are a thing.
Mine has a remote that probably does what his app does. It controls:
