Linux Mint ist ein gutes Einsteiger Linux. Seine Oberfläche ist stark an Windows mit dem alten Startmenü angelehnt.

Über Kompatibilitätsproblemen mit Dateien musst du dir eigentlich keine machen. Ansonsten gibt es bestimmt genügend Anleitungen oder du fragst mal höflich nach.

Man kann Linux auf USB Sticks installieren, aber Spaß macht das nicht, ist halt langsam. Lieber ne zusätzliche SSD ins System einbauen oder neben Windows aufs Laufwerk installieren. Falls du es dennoch auf einen Stick machen möchtest, sollte ein 32GB reichen, mehr ist immer besser.

Ich benutze CachyOS bei dem Weg.

They are designed for permanent operation.

Buy a server HDD with lots of TBs for your data and use the SSD only for your OS.
