If we are going to shed tears for the loss of culture, then the loss of Roman era bath houses and early Christian churches in Gaza is quite a bit more concerning to me than this painting.

Indeed, sounds like a legitimate win to me.
It’s basically a FOSS Chromebook.
They are probably eating everything they can find, considering they are living under famine. If there is a bag of popcorn in Gaza, they will eat it.
But I agree, this doesn’t look like popcorn to me.
RIP Navalny.
I remember him flying back from Germany to Russia after the poisoning. Watching Ricky & Morty with his wife.
Very brave, but incomprehensibly stupid.
If ever there was a person who had a justified claim to political asylum, it was him.
I learned this back in the 90s, I’m surprised new research is needed.
The solution seems to be LED lighting. The right LED bulbs don’t trigger the bug brains.
Edit to add source (below) and I forget the detail: it’s about using LEDs with less blue light, since blue light affects the bugs.

This is true, but not everything that gets promoted gets popular. A lot also flunks.
Taylor Swift just happens to hit a sweet spot that appeals to a lot of people.
And music has a self-reinforcing spiral. People listen to music from artists that they like, and which their peers like.
So a popular artist could theoretically release an album without any promotion and it would still become popular, just because people will be curious to listen to the new songs from an artist that they already like (of course, record labels will always heavily promote work from their popular artists to make them even more popular).
PSA: The old Opera guys have a new browser, Vivaldi.
It’s quite nice and I use it daily.
I was expecting this news.
I think someone is doing some arm twisting in NATO, and I think that someone might be Joe Biden.
I am no fan of Hamas, but even I can see this is a bad deal.
So they want Hamas to give up all their leverage and then after two months they will happily continue starving and bombing Gaza?
Why would Hamas agree to such a deal?
It really seems like Netanyahu doesn’t care about the hostages and they’re just pushing bad deals to placate the Israeli public to make it seem like they are doing something.
I’m not an American.
Gonna downvote you for making assumptions.
And no, I am also quite critical of the evil of my own country, but I probably have huge blind spots as well.
Ok, wow… I didn’t know that even existed.
Today I learned.
Honestly, the one thing that really surprises me about this war is how little the Israeli government cares about the hostages.
They really do value land more than human lives.
And the absolute cold blooded attitude they have towards innocent Palestinians is horrifying.
Regardless of what the ICJ decides, for me people who support Hamas, ISIS, Russia, deny the Holocaust, neo-nazis or those who support the state of Israel are all immoral persons.
And it is difficult to accept that most people are actually quite comfortable with evil. It seems to be that people are just tribal in which evil they support and which evil they object to.

I think this is a major part of it.
Which is why high levels of wealth and power actually lead to bad mental health of the rich and powerful.
They get detached from normal life and start looking for thrills in the wrong places. It’s kind of a similar effect as what middle class people know as lifestyle adaptation or the hedonic treadmill.
Once the normal things that provide pleasure are easy to obtain, people start looking for pleasure in places that still provide mystery, adventure and a challenge.
These people desperately need therapy to learn how to be content with normal things, but instead they follow their flawed monkey brains into a trap.
I am very critical of the Apartheid crimes and genocide being committed by Israel, but I’ll give them a small credit for this.
They still need to do way more though.
Hamas and Netanyahu are allies.
Corpreddit.
Lemmy feels very much like the old, old Reddit. When it was mostly IT folk and tech savvy people (talking about 2005-2010).
I think reddit peaked around 2015 or so. A much broader audience had found it. There was interesting content from a lot of people.
Now, it still has a lot of good content. But it is definitely past its peak
I don’t think it’s a conspiracy, but it is definitely odd.
In my opinion, the headline is very clear.
