Yeah, I used to use filezilla and I’m not that old… Right? …Right?

Nice, but typo in the title. ;)
I think that’s a very important point. If you “balance” the EQ like you describe but you boost a frequency band that our ears are more sensitive to and lower a band that we’re less sensitive to by the same amount of dB… The mix might still sound louder than before.
So don’t worry too much about the numbers and heed the great advice given in this thread.
This is not really “not the onion” though…
Sure, the headline is written kinda funny with the “forced to use brain”, but I don’t think the story is wild enough…
It’s surprising, I’d thought he would be team shark. But I’m glad he’s finally answering all the important questions.
Why are they using Word in an exam in the first palace? Like, to write an essay? Our non-pen-and-paper exams were all using some web platform that worked pretty well.
I was asking myself the same thing. This is a pathetic state of affairs… The only thing missing is that the google banner would now also acknowledge the Bing box and tell you specifically “don’t listen to the other popup!”.
Thank you for sharing your experience and may the winds blow ever in your favor! Ahoy!
I’ve heard good things about tidal in regards to paying artists (more) fairly. Does anyone know more about the alternatives or has experience with them? Also in terms of the library size I’m not sure how the services compare…
Yeah, I’ve seen better strategic thinking…
I hate how much time and energy is wasted on this bullshit…
You’d think the smartest people around would come up with a be better system than this. I mean they did, but some of the highest decision-makers have big incentives to keep things as they are. So mark that one more on the “capitalism ruins everything it touches” scoreboard.

Yes, if you reorder only the text and not the whole bubble it’s also correct. =)
In case you are serious: It’s probably not.
When you’re not careful with parallel processing / multithreading, you can run into something called a “race condition”, where results of parallel computations end up in the wrong order because some were finished faster than others.
The joke here is that whoever “programmed” this commic is bad at parallel progmming and got the bubbles in the wrong order because of that.
The image makes perfect sense if you read it in the order 3, 1, 2.
Her argument for being vocal is that her and her generation will have to live with the consequences of our fuckups the longest and hardest. I think that’s pretty valid. Also, she wasn’t “elected by the central climate movement council to be their representative”, if anyone, the media “elected” her and gave her a platform. So maybe be mad at them for not choosing someone “better”?
There are plenty of old white men with respectable titles saying the exact same thing as her. If a “climate change laggard” wants to hear the same message in a deeper voice, they certainly can. For those who can be moved to action at all (and there are definitely many who are “too far gone” in some conspiracy bullshit) she can be effective for many, especially younger people who have to be shaken from their stupor. So I think it’s a bit critical to “tell the girl to shut up”.
I mean the scientists have been loud and clear. So have some politicians, but that’s not a special “story” for the media. So it just happened that a very vocal (at the time) little Girl got a lot of attention, because it seemed so special.
But how does what she is saying distract from the real issue? That’s not an attack, I’m genuinely curious what you think the real issue is and how she distracts from it…
Thank you for clarifying.
Uh, watt?
I mean I was just going to put them on my feet… That’s what they’re for, right? RIGHT?!
Oh god, now I don’t know either…
Nothing is certain!
Reality is starting to crumble!!!
Funny you should mention GitHub actions. It’s exactly one of those tools where I was like “this seems cool. I would like to use it, but I don’t even know what for…” and then when I tried to look into it some more I was just more confused than before.
Thank you, this gets to the core of the problem. Exorbitant amounts of money and effort is spent to find where the letter of the law does not match the spirit of the law. Language is messy, so it never completely will. But in cases where the spirit of the law is so obvious I’m happy when it’s enforced instead of letting them off on technicalities.
