Gong
Singing bowls / tibetan bowls
If you’re a musician, look for open mics / open jams and try to make friends in the scene. Musician-organized diy events are cheap and fun. Especially punk events are cheap.
If you’re interested in art, look for local diy group exhibitions and performances and ask if you can volunteer for support.
If you’re into hacking/diy look for local repair cafes and ask to volunteer.
If you’re into rpg go hang out in local game shops and find a group to play with.
It really depends on what you consider fun!
Try piefed. The frontpage experience is wildly different.
Like what exactly do they expect to be at the outer edge of the universe? Feels like a flat-earth sort of a worldview…
On a positive note, they are probably not participating in the future gene pool
I believe in balancing quotas and rebuilding social structures to be more inclusive. That’s something that takes several generations to bear fruit.
Shaming or bullying anyone for what kind of body or privilege they were born into is where I draw the line.
edit: those who downvoted this are most welcome to reply this comment and explain their point. I’m open to discuss
Subjectively speaking, after switching to Piefed I feel like “the internet is back”.
Engaging conversation, good tools for filtering the front page to your liking, and the audience seems generally speaking more mature. I do expect that to change if the platform grows in size.
Yeah I think it’s very subjective and this one anedcote is just that.
In Germany cash is preferred in most places, and that makes tracking payments difficult. This is not the case in most other european countries. That’s an another anecdote for you.
Pocket used to be on my list, but it was unfortunately shut down. Now Joplin web clipper took its place. I still miss Pocket.
This article was right up my alley. I’ve been considering buying a cheapo smartwatch. I suppose this one couldn’t be used as a mp3 player for jogging though.
I don’t recommend RPi1 for Pi-hole… It’s underpowered and might become a network bottleneck. Speaking out of experience here
Glad to hear I’m not alone with these thoughts!
I propose, as a counter movement, automatic engagement; Instead of “liking” or “upvoting”, leave a comment every time you see something you support. And try to abstain from commenting on ragebait or otherwise intentional attention seeking. If enough people start doing this, the algorithm should start adapting to prefering more substantial or positive material, right? I know it sounds naive, but worth a shot!
I understand what you mean, and agree that not everything needs to be put in words. At the same time though, it’s really healthy to expose yourself to others even if you just write “I like the way you formulated this.” or “Makes sense, I hadn’t thought of it like this before”. That way it turns into a real discussion - a bit like in the real 3d world.
Up/ downvoting is basically anonymous and adds nothing to the discussion.
And, sometimes, other users misunderstand our comments, and then we need to respond to them to get our point through. All of this is a healthy way to challenge our thinking.
What do you mean with chat control BS? Care to share a link?
That being said, there are a lot of worrying politicians out there.
I don’t understand what your article has to do with privacy. I understood that is the framework of this conversation. Yes, there’s a lot of scary rightwing policing in Germany, but can we stay on topic?
I feel like at least in Germany privacy matters are alive and kicking thanks to GDPR / DSGVO
Apology accepted! Let’s just both agree to pick up some litter the next time we go to the beach.
Unfortunately my hometown still allows indoors smoking etc so we’re still pretty far from a ban. But it will come I’m sure.
I have excellent long-term memory but have always struggled with keeping strings of numbers in my short-term memory. You can imagine the struggle when trying to solve a function is like trying to make a bed with a slightly too small fitted sheet
