Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Uncircumcised penis owners, did you ever wish you were circumcised?
2·15 days agoCheers 🍻 and I appreciate it, but it’s all good! It’s a reasonable assumption to make, given the context

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Uncircumcised penis owners, did you ever wish you were circumcised?
54·15 days agoIt is broad, yeah. And I can’t speak for everyone, but speaking from my own experience, I certainly resent that my parents made that decision for me. Especially given that there’s no medical reason for it, I don’t see any reason why someone should violate someone else’s bodily autonomy like that.
Edit: also, not a boy :)

268·15 days agoIf you want your child to resent you for mutilating them with unnecessary surgery without their consent, go for it. If you want to be a good parent, don’t.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is your reason for not flipping to Linux?
72·23 days agoI did. But I could easily see how people are put off by the “fan base”. I actually avoid talking about Linux at all irl because I don’t want people to think I’m a fossbro

Privacy@lemmy.ml•ProtonVPN or Mullvad? Why would you choose one over another?
213·25 days agoMullvad. Excellent service, never had an issue. Used to use Proton, but their CEO sucks ass

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's the status on Wikipedia donations?
151·25 days agoI find it valuable and worth supporting, so I donate a dollar a month. It’s not much, but I want to contribute (monetarily, in addition to editing)

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's the status on Wikipedia donations?
6·25 days agoI noticed an initial bump in LLM-generated text when ChatGPT first came out, but I think Wikipedia is starting to get a better handle on counteracting it. Better than a lot of other places on the internet, that’s for sure

Privacy@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Anyone familiar with Runbox and Mailbox?
3·27 days agoWhat were the concerns you saw about Mailbox? I’ve been using it (and addy.io) a while as part of my move away from Proton, and I have no complaints thus far. It works with my email app nicely, which is a big reason I like it over Tuta, although Tuta is pretty nice as well, as long as you don’t mind using their app.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What do you think: should all government software be open source?
3·1 month agoWell, it’s not my area of expertise, so I’m not sure exactly. But I suppose a good place to start might be restricting or removing the ability of government agencies to classify or redact information, alongside increasing the power and scope of FOIA/sunshine laws.
What do you think?

Technology@lemmy.world•House Republicans Investigate Wikipedia Over Alleged BiasEnglish
82·2 months agoIt’s funny, because they clearly have the idea in their head that Wikipedia is a single organization capable of an ideological bias. When if you take a single look at some talk pages, it would become clear very quickly that Wikipedia is built on people vociferously disagreeing and bringing sources to make the information presented ever more credible and unbiased.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What things do you tell yourself about yourself inside of your own head?
11·2 months ago“I am a good person.”
My Catholic upbringing really ingrained in me the idea that I’m a fundamentally bad person. Turns out, even if you deconvert, those thought patterns will still plague you. So I have to remind myself often that just because I’m not Catholic or who my parents would like me to be, that doesn’t mean I’m doing anything wrong.

A few hours. My employer feels it’s important that I sit in front of my computer in their building, rather than in my home.
