average man by day, average man by night. / you get more points being on lemmy than you do on reddit / movie enthusiast / formerly /u/doug on reddit before I was banned for using my three strikes two Luigi GIFs and implying Trump should stop breathing.

Search apartments.com or whatever for places 1-2 hour bike rides from work. Move there.
…not joking, I’m fortunate enough in that that’s what I’ve been doing. Biking/walking to work is the only way I get any exercise (even though I can work from home). In winter months/if it’s too cold or snowy I’ll use the stationary bikes our work building put in to entice people back from COVID.
I have to have a purpose to exercise (other than health I guess?) otherwise I won’t do it.
Before I’d go to school, at 6am the WB channel played what became my private Disney Afternoon equivalent, which rotated through four shows: Jumanji, Garfield, Sonic the Hedgehog, and— for whatever reason— Roughnecks, the animated Starship Troopers series.
It was rated PG, was produced by Paul Verhoeven, and people fucking died. No idea how it snuck in alongside the tamer stuff, but it very much felt unhinged at the time/someone didn’t vet it for kids.
For now it’s Oblivion Remastered.
Once that’s done I have no idea, probably back to Skyrim.
My parents encouraged destigmatization of nudity (nudist beaches, a shower or two together, etc.), but no they did not have sex around me or my siblings and think that’d be fucked up if someone told me their parents did that to them.
THATS THE WORD I DIDNT WANT. NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!1!!
Oh thank god that last word was “winking.”
You’re right, I should set my expectations now.
Cool, another app I won’t download and will look sideways at whoever does.
If I see its userbase consists of gen z and younger I will be very disappointed.
In my case I’m just posting a lot to already-created communities found in the Lemmy directory that’ve got a chunk of subscribers.
If you’re going to start your own community for your own interest, I’d advise at least setting up on an already-populated Lemmy server (which you would have to be registered on) so it gets listed in the local directory.
If you’re going to host the Lemmy server and your community, I have no experience on that front/I would imagine there’s a lot of SEO and self-promotion you’d have to do to get it off the ground.
i’m more curious about getting on their venmo friend list.
“hey, it’s uh, vlad. i need 200k for the um, rigging of the midterms in uh, wisconsin. thank you.”
I mostly contribute here, mostly.
(edit: changed it to a relative link instead of a permalink so you can subscribe from other instances)
You gotta Field of Dreams it. I’m doing it for LV426/the Aliens universe. Just treat it like you’re starting a forum or a newsletter and, hopefully in time, others will contribute and it’ll grow organically.
The Voyager iOS App makes it feel like I never left.
This for-profit social platform will be different guys!
Startup idea: OkCupid but for communes. Matchmake a commune of people together. Can chunks of society go on without these management leeches?
Hm, had no idea this existed/should not have been surprised. Thanks for plugging it!
Do it. I don’t give a fuck at this point. Fucking class traitor piece of shit.
Um, Cade: The Tortured Crossing? It’s like you’ve never heard of Neil Breen.
Well, better to be recalled instead of buying something off brand and replacing it every three months like I did with other batteries and cords before I caught on to those shifty Amazon scammy retailers.
…I mean yes it’d be great if nothing was recalled at all, but uhhhh, I ain’t gonna hold this one against them.
