Almost 38, I spend all my free time with my wife. Started off more balanced before we moved for my work, and the more I focused on time with her, the happier we were. I hang out with work friends occasionally.

My pre marriage friends became vile, Trump-worshipping, incel assholes, so I am very content with my decisions.

I’ve seen rebuttals that this was an advertising firm embellishing capabilities to sell themselves, which…maybe. But I have too many anecdotal experiences to believe that.

Last month, my wife and I talked about how we hate Morgan Wallen. Never even typed his name until this post. And yet, after the discussion, she had IG sponsored posts for his out of state concert and Alexa had ads for him on Amazon music. Both within 2 days of the conversation.

I threw out the Alexa, increased Pinhole block lists, and we just leave our phones in another room in airplane mode for some topics.

My former friend group that still plays a lot of video games took a different path. Some have no career progress, others have horrible marriages, and a couple are cheating scumbags.

I got an Aoostar WTR Pro for this exact purpose. I went with jellyfin over plex due to plex enshittification, haven’t had any issues yet. You can find smaller NAS devices if you want. I avoided Synology because something felt off, and now they’re enshittifying too.

I like the people suggesting to build your own, that’s my next plan.

I use electric when I need to be fast. Panasonic Arc 4 or 5, the Braun mentioned is good too.

For better shaves though, Leaf Twig as the razor, and Arko Shaving Bar wicked up with a cheap boar’s hair brush. Takes some getting used to, I’m in my late 30s and only used disposable and electric all my life. It was totally worth the transition. Smoother skin, no irritation after the break-in period, and I feel like I look better.

The Leaf Twig is BIFL, very easy to handle for rookies, and it’s small so it helps shaping if you keep a beard.

I helped my sister deal with this. Bitlocker activated itself, the keys were in her account which she had access to. She had done everything properly but nothing worked to resolve it.

There’s countless forum posts on it since about 2021 if you go looking for it. None of the recovery processes worked so I reformatted and enabled bitlocker at the start. Next time I visit, she’s getting Linux Mint.

Fuck Microsoft. End users shouldn’t be expected to troubleshoot like that.
