The SAG protests were pretty transparently about protecting old money. Actors with hundreds to thousands of hours of footage already out there that can be easily turned into AI models.

NYT are such lawsuit trolls I could imagine this is credible.
Nothing but good comes from a program likes this. Honestly wtf.
I used to spend hours a day on Reddit, if you add up all the little time waster breaks I take just scrolling on Baconreader.
Now i rarely visit the site.
Many companies already do this, but advertising it is unpalatable. Just be like Google and Facebook. For awhile the Facebook app was so bad about it that it caused significant battery drain and the only way to avoid it was to remove the app.
Culturally there is no real concept of plagiarism or cheating in China. Any shortcut is acceptable, because if you aren’t using it someone else is.
Reddit who?
If I can’t browse my way, I simply don’t use the site.
If reddit pops up in a search result on my browser, wellll best believe I have multiple adblockers making sure their ads don’t load.
I remember the collective shitfit around a decade ago when Obama give out free cell phones to homeless people. It was such a crazy concept to people who have never struggled that yes, you DO need a smartphone to meet your calling, banking and personal management needs. Everything has an online portal. Every job application requires an online portion. It’s how the world works and has worked since the mid 00s.
Don’t have to be old to recognize evil
The RIAA and MPAA are the driving force behind the copystrike behavior. I do think Alphabet has the resources and standing to resist and battle it in court, but that’s clearly not their business model. Alphabet is not invested in protecting content generators, only in what metrics they can sell to ad agencies.
Fuck that bitch, but more importantly fuck the NRA which helped her.
The NRA is a terrorist organization.
Can’t affect me since i don’t use Reddit no mo
The shareholders are the owners of the company. If they feel (doesn’t matter what really happened) that there is any impropriety or fraud they can sue.
First and foremost: unionization.
Second: picking the right people for your negotiation committee. We spent nearly 8 months preparing to sit down with the company, and the first meeting was a complete wash. Second meeting we talked them into it with a rational appeal regarding the reality of insurance costs plus the fact that a sick workforce cannot work.
As far as wages: make them fight you for everything they want. Itemize every part of your job. Make lanes and stay in them. When your union goes to negotiate, the union has the upper hand. You inform them what you will do, not what you desire.
We won a 6 dollar per hour kicker towards our healthcare, which if you declined the company healthcare that money ended up in your pocket so you can buy healthcare elsewhere.
Left that job for other reasons but we raised everyone salaries by about 30% in that time too. Huge wins for the workforce.
Scalpers are predators, and captive markets like Ticketmaster give them a hunting ground.
There are several carriers who only perform maintenence in Mexico and South America to save money and avoid unexpected FAA peeks at the maintenance records.
All of that pales in comparison to this:
We created X growth in profit for our shareholders.
If a company is publicly traded, the shareholders are now by law their highest obligation. It doesn’t matter if that growth comes in the form of new clients or salaries unpaid through RTO policies. No other appeal matters other than generating more profit than the previous quarter at any cost.
Not maintaining. Not healthy business. Growth at any cost.
Its the simplest expression of “make value equal 0 for win condition”.
You can make a program that displays 1 x 0 = 0 whenever you hit the mouse button. In theory, that is as much as a game as Street Fighter or Fortnite.
I think we have some inherent limitations when creating win conditions for games, as animals we have an inherent propensity for violence. Not that we are violent as a group, but that we have such instincts as a result of or evolution. Breaking out of that box requires a much higher degree of creative effort than “kill the bad guy”, and it may struggle as a product even still thanks to the way our brains are wired.
I mean stop touching the damn boats. People be touching US boats like 4 times in history and it always turns out bad.
The Imperial Japanese Navy sank 8 US boats and we dropped the Sun on them. Twice.
