While I agree with your point, part of the genocide war strategy was to turn off the water.

I posted on this a while ago. Doesn’t just apply to Signal, but all “encrypted” messaging apps.

kingofras@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Hypothetically, how much is an oil discovery software worth?3·2 months agoNow it’s a little big harder, need some special meath to know were it is.
Meath is just a county in Ireland. And no there’s no oil there. Software doesn’t work.
Also, I get that your question is serious, but don’t. If you know how to write software, there’s so many different avenues of revenue, that you don’t have to pick the one that actually fcked up the world to the point of no return. Unless it’s buggy and makes them go look for oil in Ireland.

I care about consent, and others prefer the head in the sand approach. Both have their pros and cons.

For what it is worth, I used Signal in the title, because that’s what’s been in the media and the app governments have been going after, see the country name hyperlinks.
Not sure that’s how it works. The certification and the encryption are two different things. Though encryption certification does require the private keys to be uploaded to the CA, a bunch of internal encryption for these type of apps would not necessarily be certified by that or a CA in order for the encryption to be effective.
Very interesting, thanks for sharing. I beginning to see why tariffs are being slapped on aluminium now!
kingofras@lemmy.worldOPto Privacy@lemmy.dbzer0.com•[Opinion] Signal, encryption and backdoors1·2 months agoNot exactly. I’m saying most likely, as far as vanilla iOS and Android, most likely there are NSA backdoors available for counterintel (most likely unreported exploits) that allow them root OS access if required. It would wait till the phone is sleeping and charging and on wifi and then you wouldn’t notice. I doubt this would happen routinely to everyone, but the lack of them asking for a backdoor while a bunch of other western countries are, is pretty telling. And it wouldn’t just be signal. It would simply be everything that’s on your device.
If the Germans get wind of this, those plagiarism charges will most certainly nail them to the cross.
