You can beat 90% of the fights in all of the final fantasy turn based games just by mashing x.

Like. In emulators if you speed the game up and just set the attack button to rapid fire on one key you can get through almost everything. Including a lot of bosses.

The remake is far more action oriented I agree. But I don’t think any of the games have been particularly strategic excepting a few specific boss fights that require specific things to be done.

I couldn’t disagree more.

The entire time I played them I felt like a child again, experiencing the games for the first Time.

The entire time I felt the amount of passion the creators had for the original and I loved every minute of both of them.

I can’t remember the last time I played again that made me feel like a kid again but these games did.

Go ahead and do a google search. You’re free to. It’s wonderful. You can search for a specific product and it’ll spit out links to buy completely unrelated products. You can try to access basis info about a business and not find it. You can ask technical questions and not get answers. It’s all out there but will you see it? No. Why? Because fuck you, apparently.

You can ask a chatbot and get any of that info. There’s a small chance it’ll be wrong. But you can ask again. Or try google.

Do I love this situation? I fucking hate it. I’d rather have a functional search engine than ask a chatbot. But it IS the situation. If you don’t like it then don’t use it.

I feel like EVE is the direction MMOs needed to go. It’s why so many failed.

It’s what worked for wow when it first came out. The sense of BEING in some other world where things are different is something wow did very very well. The problem is that nobody had any part in building that world, that the story quickly became convoluted and stupid, and that jumping theough the next arbitrary hoop in a fucking Skinner box isn’t escaping this world.

Whoever finds out how to build an mmo where people can build things and make decisions and just fuck everything up if they’re so inclined and make it accessible is going to make a fortune.

That I’m a good person. Really didn’t believe that for a lot of my life but therapy helped - not just in how I see myself but in how I BE myself too. Something you touched on here that I think is a HUGE issue that fucking no one is doing anything about:

The internet is a necessity. Digital devices are necessities. People commit crimes on digital devices.

There is no one available, even in first world countries with great internet speeds, that you can go to with a problem more sophisticated than “someone took money from my bank account”.

There is no one you can talk to that understands the problem, let alone who can take action to remedy it.

Critical infrastructure is seriously vulnerable and there are multiple layers of the dunning Kruger effect and straight up fucking stupidity you would need to somehow wade through if you were facing any kind of skilled attacker, and you’d need to first identify what the fucking problem is in the first place, at which point what the fuck will they even do?

This isn’t 1996. The lackadaisical attitude towards cybersecurity held by virtually the entire world is a ticking fucking time bomb and it’s only a matter of time until it blows up and fucks over a lot of people in a big way.

If we can’t even keep critical infrastructure safe then what hope does a single person ? It’s fucking insane. Grandma may notice her phone is acting weirdly while her old ass router are being used as a spearhead for a sophisticated attack on the power grid or some shit, and there is zero chance, ZERO, anything could ever be done about it from her end.

She could take her phone to the cell carrier who would just sell her a new one. She could take it to the police who would say she’s probably senile. She could contact the manufacturer who wouldn’t do a fucking thing. She could know enough to know that something fucky was going on but there is NOTHING she could do to stop it.
