  • Netherlands:

Country: an utter clusterfuck. After a fifteen year neoliberal government, the far right have taken over. Whereas the neoliberals broke lots of things, under the facsists, our country satgnated and it will probably take decades for us to recover. We are fucked. Sideways. With a chainsaw. Province: As far as I can tell, they try to do their best despite being fucked over by said far right. City: Right-wing mayor who actually appears do be doing a somewhat decent job. However, whenever he tries to act as a human being in a national or international context, he is being cut short by his party members.

    The outlook is not good.

  • Here’s a few of my current favourites, in random order:

Amenra - A Solitary Reign Blut aus Nord - Epitome XIV Thou / Emma Ruth Rundle - Ancestral Recall Thou / ERR - the Valley Celtic Frost - A Dying God Coming into Human Flesh Zeal and Ardor - Feed the Machine Ragana / Thou - the Void Neurosis / Jarboe - Within King Woman - Boghz

  • How about Wolfenstein:Enemy Territory? Old but fun. It used to have a mod named True Combat:Elite that was a counterstrike clone which was very much fun as well, but that seems to have vanished.

I also loved the old Delta Force series and I have heard good things about the ARMA series. However, I am not sure how much ARMA will work without Steam.

  • On the Dutch version of the Correspondent, there is a recent series of articles on how young people with ideals are lured into zero-impact bullshit jobs by big corporations. In case any Dutch readers are watching along: the author’s name is Simon van Teutem. There’s also a book by the same author with the same message, although I have not read it yet.

Although I am nearing 50, it has struck a certain nerve with me. The author puts into words a certain opinion that I have been having the last few decades in a more poignantand hopefully impactful way than I will ever be able to.

  • Barefoot shoes convert since two years now. I have three use cases and also own three pairs of barefoot shoes.

    1. Running. Wanted to switch, but I still use my classic running shoes. I mostly run on hard surfaces. It’s just too much wear and tear on the joints. Having said that, my running stride has changed, making me a forefoot lander instead of midfoot. I have also switched from anti-pronation to neutral shoes. Yes, I still pronate, but I have had no related injuries so far.
    2. Hiking: I fully switched to barefoot. For any hike up to a few hours, both my Xeros and Vivos work well. The only issue I have with them is that they are not waterproof.
    3. Business. I have Vivos that look slightly like moccasins. I have been assured that they look fine as well as comfortable. If I cared about looks, I’'d consider that a win.
