  • I rip through an ounce of dabs a month and can run a homelab and write software that way, I have no problem holding a 9-5. Your friends are just irresponsible, or more likely, just don’t give a fuck like 99% of people.

Me and my friends are all stoners, we use simplex fine. Not sure what your deal is.

Either way why do they need to do something at a certain time?

YOU CAN MESSAGE OFFLINE USERS ON SIMPLEX THEY WILL GET THE MESSAGE LATER, IF THEYRE ONLINE NOW THEY WILL GET A NOTIFICATION. IF THIS ISNT WORKING YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS ARE FUCKED.

I’m sorry you and your friends can’t figure out how to use literally the first open source privacy a respecting messenger that I actually think I could hand to my grandmother…

  • Lot of people mentioning SimpleX but I can’t imagine trying to make someone go online at the same time as me to start sending each other messages without being annoyed.

Do you just keep your phone off or do you not use your IM clients there? Literally never had this issue with simplex, it deliveres notifications just fine to my phone.

Though I did manually have to give it notification perms on android. Annoying but very easy fix.

  • The problem with having both is that the electronic one is always the primary one, and the one people will use daily.

Yeah that’s the design flaw. Thats literally what im saying they shouldn’t do. You can make a mechanical-first door with an internal solenoid thats capable of popping the door.

The main and only handles on all the doors should be mechanical only, with door popper buttons for all four doors on the driver-side arm rest (where window controls go)

What purpose do electric door handles serve? Other than being more prone to failure, more expensive, and dangerous?

Electric door poppers ARE NOT the same thing as electric door handles, pick a thing to complain about.

POPPERS (IE:solenoids) allow the driver to open doors for passengers, while also ensuring the main way in and out is NOT dependent on electronics (when properly implemented).

Unnecessary luxury? Sure, but so are cars in a lot of the world. Solenoids are cheap, and the idea is not inherently a danger when done right.

Your issue isn’t electronically controlled door poppers. Its cars being made by silicon valley, y-combinator sucking, tech-bro douchebags who thought replacing the mechanical handle with a button was a good idea.

  • Jmp.chat provides sim activations for xmr but honestly no matter what anything with a cell radio is being logged by its upstream carrier.

If you want a truely private number, use jmp.chat with a separate xmpp server over something like mullvad.

For what its worth, the sim swap protection might be worth it considering how many services force you to use SMS for 2fa, and they seem to ask for less data than usual.

Is it better than your average carrier? Maybe. Is any SMS/phone call coming out of your personal number something you should consider private from the government? Probably not.

Its still going to have to go over the big boy carriers, and its still probably going to be tied to a phone number several institutions will know is yours if its your main number.

If it isn’t, use jmp.chat, alongside a good XMPP provider and VPN, or forego the PSTN all-together.

  • Likewise, if you set an iPhone to use Advanced Data Protection.

You can pretend your iPhone isn’t owned by a corporation that just swore fealty to the current regime, but until its running a custom ROM it isn’t fucking yours.

Only phone that comes your own from factory I’d maybe the pinephone. Otherwise, get a pixel, rip out the factory OS install, and throw Graphen OS on it.

Both Android AND iOS have taken code from Graphene and used it to secure their codebases. Its probably one of, if not the most secure OS available to the average person today.
