Being able to dock is one of the critical mission requirements. I wonder if this mission will be considered a successful test, clearing the way for scheduled crew rotation flights, or if NASA is going to make them do it again.

I don’t get why so many people begrudge YouTube for trying make money. They serve up 5TB of video data every second. Somebody’s got to pay for all of that. They know ads suck, that’s why they sell no ad subscriptions.
Originally they had planned on two more seats in the Crew Dragon behind / below the commander and pilot, but when they switched from a powered land landing to a parachute splashdown, they had to adjust the angles of the seats & the travel in the seat suspension. Those changes required them to drop the second row of seats.
Maybe. There are only four Crew Dragons. One’s attached to the station right now, and one’s had its docking equipment removed in preparation for the spacewalk on the Polaris Dawn mission. That leaves two. I’m sure one’s already in prep for the next regularly scheduled crew rotation. A rescue mission would mean either leaving two of the astronauts scheduled to fly that flight on the ground to leave open seats for the Starliner crew, or a special mission using the last Dragon.
The UK is going through the same thing. The Prime Minister dissolved Parliament about two weeks ago, and elections are going to be held of July 4th. (An odd choice, but apparently elections are always on a Thursday in the UK.)
We used unused punchcards to make flashcards in elementary school in the late 80’s / early 90’s. I guess the county bought a bunch and had to find another use.
And now I realize the primary definition of flashcard has changed since then, from study aid to digital storage.
A three digit xkcd, that one has been around a while.
Could be red plastic flowers reflecting sunlight and washing them out.
The needless gaps are there for touchscreen optimization, even on things you never use a touchscreen on, like a desktop OS.
The word of the day is yonic. It’s the female equivalent of the word phallic.
I guess hydrogen is technically an antioxidant, in that hydrogen + oxygen = boom + no more oxygen.
The Into the Spider-Verse trailer avoids the plot twists and reveals while showing off their new animation style. I think there’s one or two lines and scenes in the trailer that didn’t make the movie itself, I don’t remember Miles and Peter sitting on a subway bench having a conversation. (It may have been a red herring, to avoid showing the actual scene with additional characters.)
I hadn’t heard the Mac story before. I wonder if it’s legit, as I don’t think the Mac, or the Lisa before it, ever had the equivalent of a My Computer icon. Disks appear directly on the desktop; dragging a disk to the trash can ejects it if its removable media, and the only type of disk the original Mac had was a 400KB single-sided 3.5” floppy drive.
Also from VT. We were wondering what the red spots we were seeing near the 5 o’clock position were. I had guessed they were flares, thanks for confirming.
For those that missed it, the flares & prominence were visible to the naked eye as red dots.
The player clicked on the Builder button, then clicked on me, so now I build a staircase into the sky.
I think is a metrification of a measurement in imperial fluid ounces, but the imperial numbers seem arbitrary, too.
540 ml = 19.005342 Imp oz. = 18.259572 US oz.
710 ml = 24.988505 Imp oz. = 24.007956 US oz.
Modern browsers have dropped support for the marquee tag, so you’ll have to reimplement it in JavaScript.
