I agree, though alas currently wage theft is not a crime in the UK.

Thank you, that really made my day! As much as I want to change the world, I do also love a croissant, and those two things aren’t mutually exclusive. After all, several of those bakeries - E5 Bakehouse and The Dusty Knuckle - are involved in programmes helping refugees and prison leavers.

Australia also has a problem with monopolies, as Coles and Woolworths dominate much of the market.

As the article states, lots of people in the community cared for her when she was alive, and took the time to speak to her, and help her out.

It’s rather simplistic to say that if people cared then she wouldn’t be homeless. The government needs to build more affordable social housing to end homelessness.

So I’ve thought about this and what I would like to have is a UK focused running community that exists outside of Instagram, which currently is the dominant place for running content, particularly running crews. I’m quite active in the London running crew scene and there are things like shakeout races, community events that only get posted about on Instagram and I would love to share those outside of Instagram.

I’m thinking something like the hashtag #UKRunChat, but as a Lemmy community, that I would happily help moderate and manage.
