Odysee is an alternative in the same way that parler is technically an alternative to twitter.
But most sane people stay far away.

The ceo is a bigoted asshole, Brave is chromium, it was initially funded by Peter Thiel and they’re literally just trying to make their own adsense network.
The self-proclaimed privacy focused browser is tracking your browsing and want to serve you personalized ads, and I think they want to use that tracking data for AI training as well, meaning other people can potentially access it.
And lets not forget about their crypto currency that you can earn by turning on special ads. Which they seemingly unironically called it “Basic Attent Tokens”…
TL;DR: The company is basically a sham company trying to usher in a dystopia. Where you’ll get paid for staring at ads, while having all your data stolen and sold back to you.
It’s a joke post. Which makes it extra funny, and quite sad, how many of the comment seem to think it’s serious and are unironically chiming in with complaints.
OPs username is “Peter Poopshit”, I wouldn’t take anything they post seriously.
It’s a link aggregator that finds an available file to stream to you from servers that already have the full file, which may or may not have been assembled from a legitimate source or torrent.
That’s literally the argument they use for torrents as well. They don’t host any material, just point to it. And they are still being taken down left and right for breaking some law or another in regards to that.
So this is why google is actually seeing some support in their new proposal.
Who needs encryption when you have your Governement Issued and Officially Licensed and DRM locked browser that forces you to watch ads between every click or you can’t use the online-only services.
While true that they’re not polluting for fun, many corporations will try to avoid any anti-pollution measure that will lose them money. To the point where they spend billions of dollars every year to lobby governements, enviromental protection organizations, and drag out regulations with lawsuits. Because in the long run it’s usually worth it for them to pollute, as long as the investors see enough profits in the short term.
With the TL;DR being: Google/Alphabet wants to more easily block non-chrome browsers ability to use their services, and prevent the use of adblocking.
Which also means that many people using accessability tools will be unable to access them. And they are trying to get Firefox to implement it as well, so they don’t take all the blame when shit hits the fan and they start getting multi-billion dollar monopoly fines from the EU.
After some quick reading, a big thing is that you want an EV with a cooled and heated battery if you live in areas that see snow. And if you live in a warm area you’ll want a battery pack that is actively cooled, as overheating will also cause poor performance, and can become damaged if they get hot enough.
According to a South Korean fine Tesla was given, their cars can apparently drop in range by about 50% if the temperature is around -15C(5F), compared to 20C(68F). With many other EVs also dropping by up to 40% because of battery temperature.
They were already fined in South Korea in January, for lying about the range(it was only $2.2m, but it shows that there are regulations and ramifications).
And it looks like there is evidence of them intentionally making their “remaining distance” softawre lie, and more. So it wouldn’t surprise me if the EU is getting involved, which means there might be much bigger fines coming.
It’s the classic metric issue.
A third or so of the country wants America to “lead” and not “follow”. So they resist change they percieve as being pushed on them from outside, no matter how logical or beneficial.
Are you trying to make a joke? Or did you not get that the comment you replied to is also a joke?
It wouldn’t surprise me if Zuckerberg hired them.
The memes about him have been a lot less derisive, and recently they are semi-positive towards him/meta, people were reasonable in the response to his green screen grilling video and there are jokes about them changing the Threads logo high up on lemmy, etc. And he registered an X logo as trademark to potentially counter Musk.
But honestly we might never know. I doubt they went to work for someone as self-destructive as Musk.
There are multiple stories like that from several people.
Apparently there were people at Tesla who were effectively employed to get fired when he was in one of his moods.
And if you read enough of the stories it all comes down to basically a single PA who kept him away from important things. And that person stopped working for him shortly before the public realized what an asshole he is.
And after learning that, I can’t stop wondering who they work for now… And I want to see a show based on their biography.
They try to present it as “detecting abuse”, but it’s literally just “allow servers to block non-verified browers”(in other words google blocking access to their services for non-chrome users(the people proposing it work for google)).
And as always these types of asshats always shit all over anyone using accessbility tools(or don’t even consider them in the first place, which amounts to the same thing).
What is with the “/s”?
He literally will try to sue once someone tells him about it(because he is a “programmer” that basically doesn’t know what linux is and thinks open source means he can take it).
Mostly messed up because he dumped all the kids, some as young as 5 to walk around on roads without sidewalks and such.
Our school bus drivers threw four kids off once without any real consequence. They ended up walking to school. But they were 14 and were laughing at the driver while vandalizing the bus.
The US military has a wide range of generals, all the way from people who can barely stop themselves from dribbling while staring at a wall for hours as entertainment, to actual competent ones.
At least this guy is just a moron, some of them are very dangerous. For example US Army General Wesley Clark, who ordered someone to basically start WW3, which didn’t go through because several officers refused to listen to him. Then he ran for president as a democrat, withdres. He later started a consulting firm and now runs a “boutique investment bank”.
Of course he didn’t respond to the 32bit removal, he made his stance pretty clear over a decade ago. The author even said he knew what the answer would be, because how could you be a kernel maintainer without knowing about that email.
Don’t even have to go that far back: Italy is massively corrupt with organized crime running parts of the country and with a literal facsist representing them in the EU Parliment(Mussolinis granddaugher in fact). This current prime minister that is being referred to in the post is a self-proclaimed “national conservative”.
And the fact that they kept letting Berlusconi run things is all the proof you need of how corrupt the entire country is(his “controversies” part on wikipedia is so large that it has its own page with 160 citations, he is also connected to the party of the person mentioned above).
But it has some amazing tourist locations and food, so people gloss over that as well.
Yeah the whole “I love unions, but we at this company are a family so we don’t need that”, is peak anti-union talk. Throughout history it’s been used by people who are horrible to their employees.
